Jodi Anasta has told Herald Sun that her character’s exit from Neighbours will be “next level brutal” and that her future is likely to involve TV and fashion.

I don’t have any say in the way I exit the show, but I’m very, very happy with my exit. It will be next level brutal. I can’t believe I get to do this on television.

I feel through the arc of my character I’ve learned a lot about myself through watching her make good and poor choices.

As my daughter would say: ‘Is that good choice, mummy, or is that a poor choice?’

It’s all about living and learning and understanding yourself, and what you’re capable of, and what your fears are.

Anasta also said her future is likely to involve television and fashion.

Neighbours will feature a number of easter eggs for its own 35th anniversary next month:

The background map in the first opening titles of Neighbours as shown above was a fictional map of Erinborough specially created by UBD, which was a popular street directory at the time (it is now published by Hardie Grant Books). I believe it was based on a part of suburban Sydney or Perth.

Deborra-lee Furness is returning to Ramsay Street to direct a three-episode storyline about adoption, something she and husband Hugh Jackman are passionate about.

Deborra-lee Furness Is Heading To Ramsay Street.

Acclaimed Australian actress, director, producer and founder of child advocacy non-profit Adopt Change, Deborra-lee Furness, is officially making her way to Ramsay Street to direct ground-breaking scenes on Australia’s longest running drama, Neighbours .

After recognising Deborra-lee’s important work advocating for vulnerable and displaced children, Neighbours saw an opportunity to tell an important story where two Erinsborough favourites embark on a journey to becoming permanent carers.

The Neighbours production team has worked very closely with Deborra-lee to develop a touching and inspiring storyline which highlights the challenges and the triumphs children, families and carers face in often complex and difficult circumstances.

Deborra-lee will help bring this important story to life when she steps out on set, and into the director’s chair, from late February 2020.

Deborra-lee said: “I am thrilled to be collaborating with the team at Neighbours to direct these episodes and tell a story that is not often represented in mainstream media.

“There are almost 50,000 Australian children currently in temporary out-of-home care. We only get glimpses into their reality, and unfortunately that is usually when there are catastrophic outcomes.

“To have an iconic television institution like Neighbours joining the conversation and reflecting the lives of so many Australian children is extremely powerful. Awareness is the essential first step in creating a positive shift in both culture and policy towards permanent solutions.”

Executive Producer of Neighbours , Jason Herbison said: “To have a director who is so personally committed and emotionally invested in telling such an important story, lifts the bar for all us and we’re just thrilled to have Deborra-lee join us on Ramsay Street.”

Not in Melbourne, ironically.

Because they had Melways right?

Yeah. Any map reference was always a Melways reference, nobody’s ever quoted UBD references in Melbourne

I used to work in a newsagency many, many years ago and the UBD was quite popular, just not as popular as Melways. I recall problems years later when one of them (I can’t remember which one) added fake streets and the other one copied, thinking they were real.

I think it was Melway that put in some fake streets and found a competitor copying it.

In Sydney we had Gregory’s and UBD. There used to be a rivalry between the two.

Not sure which one was more popular but when I was a kid my dad always had a Gregory’s because it was smaller and fit into your glovebox. Later, I discovered the UBD when one of my mates had one at home because his family was a UBD family. When I bought my first car, I bought a UBD. :open_mouth:

Cartographers making up fake place names! Sounds like a plot to a movie

BTW: Gregory’s was in Brisbane too. UBD was a late comer.
