Literally a blink and you’d miss it moment too.

Nice to see Susan with a bit of oomph again in yesterday’s episode!

Pretty much like most cameos in the past. Clive James as the postman. Paula Abdul and Katherine Kelly Lang were also guests at the hotel. The Pet Shop Boys took a wrong turn into Ramsay Street and asked for directions.

No worries. Just thought I’d take the opportunity to mention some other brief cameos from the past.

I guess the publicity they generate might attract some new or returning viewers.

Wicked actors Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey share their love of Neighbours.

Freevee shows, including Judy Justice, Neighbours, Tribunal Justice, America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation and Bosch: Legacy as well as older originals including Jury Duty, High School, Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis and Primo , staying in front of the paywall and available to non-Prime customers.

I’d really like to know if Neighbours is going to get a renewal. They film 5/6 months ahead plus writing and plotting even further than that so surely we need to hear something soon. It’s constantly in the top 5 at Prime and I know 10 probably isn’t that happy with it (if only it was another underperforming season of Task Master) despite the numbers being pretty reasonable over multiple slots and streaming pretty strong.

I can’t help but feel 10 trying to drop back to 3 episodes per week was their way of dragging out Neighbours because they don’t want to renew it.

Amazon are taking a 2 week break. It was likely 10 might not have taken a break at xmas and were trying to build up episodes to allow airing over christmas.

In terms of a renewal, its most likely been decided, we just arent hearing about it

If Neighbours isn’t renewed, it will probably just play out until September unless Amazon unless it was fast tracked to wind it up sooner, like Seven did with Blue Heelers, which is unlikely.

We know they’ve already written episodes to screen in May so it would unlikely end earlier than contracted.

I know that was 10’s official line, but the timing didn’t make sense. In order to cover the two week break they only would have needed to go to three episodes a week for six weeks. The announcement was made in October. They were going to go even further behind than Amazon and the situation would have been like 2022, when Neighbours was axed.

When Neighbours was reduced to 4 episodes in 2021 the rationale at the time was for the UK to catch up. That was a lie though as 10 had always wanted to just be four episodes a week and was written in the contract for the final year. Only 5 backtracked and kept it at five episodes a week causing a scheduling snafu.

10 lies all the time about their intentions.

I’m not saying it will necessarily end early, but it could end up in 1 hour episodes Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 4pm and possibly extend the 3:30pm news to 1 hour. Anything is possible given its lacklustre performance. However, it hasn’t been offered a good slot since its return to Ten

I mean its overall figures at4pm are nothing great, however when you comapare its 150k viewership at 4pm to an entire evening (6pm - 10:30pm) rating 100k to 280k, Neighbours is doing well for 10.

I agree but ever since the time slot reversal with Bold, 10 seems to have really cooled off. They’ve made some token promotional pushes here and there (David’s death) but considering how much other 10 programmes get promoted it is glaring, especially as they’ve sunk millions into it. Neighbours doesn’t even get good promo space on 10play. Some might argue even that a 4:30pm time slot right off the bat was buyers remorse.

I’m just concerned that with Paramount’s budget cuts and scripted dramas getting shafted and neglected that Neighbours is an easy cost saving measure for them no matter how it seemingly rates. The longer no official announcement is made also adds to the concern.

Maybe they might be going to see how it goes paired up with Y&R assuming Ten are going to do a daytime serial bloc of programming

It has been confirmed today that Amazon will be taking a two week break in the UK. The 2024 finale will be airing on Thursday 19 December 2024 and the show will return on Monday 6 January 2025.

Assuming Ten will do the same in Australia.

No doubt - the UK is the bigger audience these days, and they wouldn’t be to happy if we get episodes before them + Amazon who would lose some viewers to underground illegal streaming platforms.
