This is a really good question. How couldn’t Paramount global make this work given they have wide distribution around the world and had now launched in the UK? Having a multi platform strategy across paramount distribution points including the US market would’ve been good for it.
I guessing Amazon has figured they get a good pipeline of Australian content at a marginal cost using existing IP to ensure they can continue argue against local quotas for local streaming.
I’m fairly convinced that the show is planned to return to the main channel next year, even hearing well placed sources suggesting it could even return to its former timeslot.

Any says here: “you’ll be able to watch the show on 10 and 10 play when it returns to our screens in the middle of next year”.
It may screen 5 x22 minute episodes on 10, but once its on Amazon, viewers will be able to watch all episodes in 1 go, meaning they may choose to watch all in 1 go on a Sunday for the week or wheb they choose.
5 episodes a week is just for main stream networks who still take the old aged fashioned way of viewing
Watching The Project interview, it shows that Lisa Wilkinson doesn’t watch Neighbours. She first says that all the houses got sold in the final and asks where everyone will live when the show returns. Um… the houses didn’t end up selling. Secondly, she talks about Guy Pearce and Annie Jones working together, and then says “we haven’t seen enough of Annie Jones”. Hello? She’s been full time on Neighbours for over the last 4 years of the shows run.
Anyway… its good that the show’s return has been doing all the media rounds today. It’s been great viewing and reading.
Don’t want to go too off topic but reviving Kath and Kim put me off as I heard they are using a green screen instead of the actual house which is no longer there.
Judging by comments on social media, it seems most people are under the impression that tomorrow night’s show is the start of a new regular season. A lot of disappointed people come Sunday night.
