The ratings reported are usually the afternoon and evening rating added together. First screening has more viewers I believe. Last figures I saw were around 1.2m most days.
It’s fair to say the cast and crew did themselves proud. Have to suspend disbelief for most of the returnee scenes, and Scott and Charlene (or more to the point, Jason Donovan and Charlene) was as underwhelming as I thought it would be and wasn’t really needed. Other touches were better - especially the final scene with the ghosts but also the Natalie Imbruglia and Holly Valance scene worked so well too. Of the 80s crew the Mike and Jane scenes worked by far the best - and plaudits to the editors for having a couple of scenes with them and Scott and Charlene without Guy Pearce being on the set the same day.
I agree, Jane and Mike were in the Ramsay house having moments and all I could see was a flapping helicopter animation for Hunted that was positioned perfectly over Jane’s hands. So distracting and unnecessary.
A one-off Neighbours themed Tourism Australia ad, co-produced by Fremantle, aired on Channel 5 UK on Friday night during the double episode finale broadcast.
Nicola Charles (who played Sarah Beaumont), has told the Herald Sun that just like Craig McLachlan, she’d been overlooked for the finale, saying “I’ve been cancelled because I’m unvaccinated.”
However, she said in the end she was glad Sarah was not part of the ‘shambles’ that was the last episode of Neighbours, saying there was zero suspension of disbelief, no attempt to round off storylines, or drag even theatre-school performances from the actors, Guy Pearce excepted.
