Neighbours

The thing is it went too woke.

Also I think a big factor in it losing its UK audience was they have so many other soapies set in suburban towns but Home & Away is a point of difference because its set on a coastal beach town so still popular there for its difference plus its not trying to tick all the diversity boxes just because…

I think in the history of Summer Bay they’ve had 1 lesbian and she was actually bi?

I heard “Especially For You” on one station yesterday. Don’t know which one it was because it came up while I was tuning the radio in my sister’s new car. Never thought I’d hear that played on radio again.

Neighbours still had a massive UK audience.

H&A is not as popular as Neighbours was (or is) in the UK. Plus the Ch5 don’t pay a larger percentage of its production cost for that soap, hence why it’s still going. H&W’s future lies solely with the Seven Network.

Nova was playing Neighbours artists throughout the day. I heard Born To Try from Delta Goodrem and in the afternoon Tim Blackwell played Stefan Dennis’s “classic” (tongue in cheek) Don’t It Make You Feel Good. :joy:

That’s what I was asking!?

What was the reference when they showed the Coffs Harbour key tag hanging from the rearview mirror in the mini?

Yes I agree. It tasted very well in my opinion. And i think people who complain that Charlene didn’t say much, well sometimes body language says it all really!

I don’t think Neighbours went woke at all, they were trying to catch up with the times socially and culturally but you know the sing ding, damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Home and Away has a cultural white problem with no diversity whatsoever, well at least during the 1900s.

Isn’t Delta a mate of Kochie?

Prob related somehow

Studio10 has had some great interviews with cast and returning cast. Missed opportunity by Ten not packaging the interviews together and having a prime time special.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but looks like this week’s episodes are on tomorrow afternoon back to back on Peach

Yet they still axed it for “investment in local drama” that allegedly rates more. Probably just those one and done series like The Teacher and some other show I saw on P+. Not sure they’re going to be getting the content pipeline they’re hoping for.

I think Channel 5 is going to regret this decision. Like it or not Neighbours is far superior than some of the dramas they’ve produced like Lie with Me. Those are poor quality dramas and doesn’t have the longevity like Neighbours which was loved, reliable and the possibilities were endless.

Here are just two of them from today.

There was a series I watched that was a channel 5 production… I can’t remember what it was, it was awful.

Yep… good luck Ch5 managements.

Applies to a majority of the content on that channel. Terrible.

Yet it apparently rates well :man_shrugging:

And a lot of the “uk content” they mention is actually joint productions with 10 :joy:
