NBC’s Today show turned 74 yesterday. Can’t wait for what plans they have for their 75th anniversary in 12 months time next year. Today gave birth to the breakfast/morning show genre around the world which has been exported to many countries including here in Australia

The name — and a very early version of the 1952–1962 format — has actually been used across multiple networks in a fairly “regional” way, not just by Nine. The National Today show, IMO, probably owes a lot more of its format to ABC (US)’s AM America /Good Morning America than anything else. If anything, Nine’s modern Today format has been the bigger influence overall, basically becoming the template for most competing breakfast shows over the years — from Ten’s original Good Morning Australia to Seven’s Sunrise, and so on.

nah i’d say Sunrise went NBC in inspiration though! especially when you consider the Martin Place, copying the Rockerfeller Plaza set
really, i’d bet Seven would’ve called their show Today if it wasn’t for Nine beating them to the name.
I was speaking from a purely formulaic standpoint, not a graphical or stylistic one.
Nine didn’t “beat” Seven to Today, either. Nine originally wanted Good Morning Australia but lost that to Ten, which forced them to choose Today after Seven allowed it to lapse.

The changes at NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago are part of a larger remodel project that NBCU embarked a few years ago, and cost US$70 million. The stations, once spread out across various floors at the NBC Tower, have moved into a single workspace at the 2nd floor, which once housed the studios for The Jerry Springer Show and Judge Mathis. The newsroom, shared between both stations, is fully cloud- and automation-based, with a common newsroom and production platform which is also closely connected to the network news division (whose Chicago bureau is also based there) and other NBCU Local outlets.
The sets were designed by Jack Morton.

You know what, I feel bad for Savannah because she had a great time last week at Studio 1A when she returned after her vocal surgery and then she was about to head up to Milan for the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics.
Let’s just hope they will be some good news by the end of the week.
