Why’s all this discussion in the NBC thread?
That’s actually a good point, where does MSNOW discussion go now that it’s no longer part of NBC?
I should probably heed my own advice.
The generic US News Channels thread
@moderators why isn’t there an MSNOW thread?
after the buzz of the relaunch, is there enough discussion to warrant it?
There’s a Sky News UK thread?
there’s also 4 different threads for 9News so not really sure what the rules are, but I mean can’t anybody start a thread if they want?
Point being?
Why shouldn’t their US equivilent have one?
Because there is a US News Channels thread, where there isn’t an equivalent for the UK.
This just in: Axios’ Sara Fischer is reporting NBC News is nearing the launch of its subscription offering, available within the US, and which will feature distinct content. There will be no paywalls, instead resorting to extra subscriber-only content, like access to podcasts, video shows and web articles, with no ads, plus exclusive content for subscribers, all inside the NBC News app, but also through the website.
Subscriber perks will feature access to all 22 FAST channels from NBC and Comcast’s properties, including NBC News Now, Noticias Telemundo Ahora, Sky News, NBC Sports Now, Dateline 24/7 and Today All Day, plus all of the NBC and Telemundo O&O local streaming channels, and 46 NBC News podcasts, all without ads, and exclusive video offerings like vertical video shows and full on demand versions of NBC News shows.
Further plans include the ability to add more content from Telemundo’s news division inside the NBC News app. The conventional NBC News editorial offering and FAST channels will remain available for free.

Because it’s technically still NBC’s: CNBC is rebranding on the 13th.
The update will shed the peacock feathers from the brand with a new logo that nods to the network’s expertise, while integrating the logo into the current on-air design package and style. The new logo design features an upward arrow integrated in the letter “N,” symbolizing stocks moving on the exchanges, while tightly kerning the CNBC letters.
What seems like the new logo has been floating on Logopedia - more basic than the internal test concepts a while back
Will CNBC Asia and Europe change their logos too?
Pretty likely. And there aren’t just them, there are also affiliates in Italy, India, Japan, Brasil among others.
You can delay a graphics rollout but I don’t think this should be.
NCS (NewscastStudio) has confirmed this is indeed the new logo they are using. They formally unveiled it today in Versant’s Investor Day event. Very tied in with their current graphics.
They even have a special promo for the change:
Speaking of MS NOW, they are launching a DTC offering next summer, billed as a “digital hub for progressives, focused on community, membership and democracy”. This is part of a larger focus at Versant towards an increased pivot towards digital and DTC, plus a massive expansion towards FAST offerings (they are acquiring Free TV Networks, a company created by former Scripps executive Jonathan Katz, who is best known for being one of the pioneers of multicast FTA networks in the US)
The new offering includes will de-emphasize the conventional SVOD thinking (though will include a live feed of the network) by wholly integrating access to on-air personalities through virtual events with MS NOW talent, moderated discussion spaces and community features, and what the network termed “curated insights”, which include clips and opinion pieces from the network’s roster.
I hope it doesn’t look like this mock on-air. It’s also pretty weird they opted out of continuing with the “broadcast blue” color.
Looks pretty good to me. Better than MS Now.
Speaking of CNBC…
This comes after the predictor struck another deal with CNN on Wednesday, although the difference is that it’s effective immediately.
