More, as they said, a “special Sunday edition of Today”.
And today it looks like MSNBC is simulcasting a special report from NBC News Now instead of Morning Joe. Which seems strange.
its times like this where you wonder why News Now and MSNBC hasnt merged…
MSNBC is a traditional linear cable news channel, providing news coverage through cable television. In contrast, NBC News Now is a streaming news service, offering news content online to cater to the growing audience that prefers digital consumption.
Comcast/NBC had considered launching a new worldwide news service that would’ve combined MSNBC with Sky News UK However, this plan was ultimately scrapped during the planning phase.
Both of them, along with the NBC Network, always simulcast NBC News Special Reports
There is an anomaly with the intro, it says “Live from Studio 1A in Rockefeller Center instead of Rockefeller Plaza”.
Morning Joe was replaced this morning after discussions between the hosts and the network. The network wanted rolling coverage across its channels and not just talking heads/IVs
Special Reports go across all O&O channels and I think most affiliates opt in where they can. I think its just a way to unify the brand so people know they’re getting the latest coverage. Its also usually anchored by a major host - Lester Holt, Savannah Guthrie, Tom Llamas etc, so puts their big names front and centre.
yes exactly, they went with a regular Today show to cover the breaking news rather than the feature focused Sunday Today.
yeah noticed that, bit strange.
Not strictly true. The formats are different - MSNBC is largely opinion/progressive hosts, while NBC News Now is more of a rolling news format.
Disgusting immoral. Get it off.
She’s showing her elbows! No doubt her male colleagues can see her knees and her ankles!
No one does an opening like NBC Today. Ever since I was a kid in the 80s, it always gave me goosebumps!
Agreed. Brilliant opener. Love all of the elements and the flow of that whole sequence.
She normally wears longer sleeves, particularly for Top Story, but i did notice recently they go right down to her wrist.
An update on CNBC’s worldwide graphics rollout…
As recorded by @NaruTVMock, CNBC Asia has updated to the new graphics in July, largely following the domestic template bar the time bug.
CNBC World, the block for these programmes on domestic CNBC, updated their blue Peacock around the same time:
Meanwhile, their Arabic channel recently updated their bug to one akin to the Asia feed, but keeps the older lower thirds for now:
Whereas their Indonesian feed just plastered the new logo over the old graphics:
As a side note, Last Call was cancelled:
NBC News got an Olympic boost similar to Nine in Australia
NBC Nightly News averaged 7.62 million viewers, topping ABC World News Tonight with 7.52 million and CBS Evening News with 4.45 million.
NBC Nightly News also was first in the 25-54 demo, averaging 1.47 million, followed by World News Tonight with 1 million and CBS Evening News with 583,000.
Lester Holt anchored Nightly News from Paris throughout the games.
The numbers also are improvement from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, when World News Tonight still beat Nightly News in total viewers, although the NBC broadcast still topped in demos. NBC said that Nightly News grew 8% in total viewers and was up in the demos this year versus 2021.
