With Days of Our Lives moving permanently from NBC to Peacock from September 12, NBC will fill the daytime spot vacated by the soap with NBC News Daily, an hour-long show anchored by Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Vicky Nguyen and Morgan Radford.
Like the use of lightish blue and orange. They really toned it down.
For behind the scenes and set enthusiasts, this is a really cool video:
Imagine the day Australia got a set that resembles anything on that scale. Just amazing.
I wouldnât be expecting it.
10 Sydney is the closest in this country, but still no where close to that. Absolute class.
Seven Sydney, hereâs your chance.
Forget the set, even the technology they have in there are miles ahead of Australian sets.
Thatâs world leading stuff right there folks. Nothing else on this planet comes close to that. Sensational effort from NBC. Iâm speechless. Brilliance.
And not even for the full elections!
Most of these are from existing sets though yes?
The first one is the NBC News and Today set and the others are from other bulletins/ shows and just modded for the coverage?
Itâs still hell impressive, sadly the networks here donât have budgets anywhere near these to justify the investment in sets like this in our market.
Yep. For example, the last set featured is the main one used for MSNBC programs.
So basically itâs NBC current studio layout and sets, but dressed up for the election etc.
Basically yes. But done very well using existing resources.
The Aus equivalent, as has been noted here is previously, isnât quite the same.
A good versatile space could be used for any number of programs and look different.
However in Australia:
We see ATN with Sunrise, TMS, News and The Latest from one space, pretty poorly.
TCN with Today, Today Extra, News and ACA, half of which could, and is, be replicated in any capital city studio seamlessly.
TEN has Studio 10 and the news from a magnificent yet under-utilised studio.
ABV probably has the most similar capabilities set-wise with News Breakfast, News, Insiders and Offsiders sets lending themselves for other uses, though bearing in mind the technical limitations of sharing one single studio and equipment.
Itâs not necessarily the size but how you use it. Weâll never see anything to the scale of NBC but a well thought out versatile set design cough Everleigh cough which looks grand could be a game changer in a close battle of whatâs left of the rusted on FTA audience in Aus
The issue you have is the networks here are less than a quarter of the size and have budgets nowhere near the levels that NBC would. Even if they did, you would find the set would then have to last minimum 20 years for that level of investment, and with the sets currently made in Australia we start to see wear and tear and burn out in screens only a few years into their existence.
Itâs just not feasible in this market. We can all dream but now the way networks are tightening the budgets even moreso. It wonât happen.
The ABC election set this year was pretty good.
NBC has Nightly News and Today at 30 Rockefeller Plaza where they also film SNL and Jimmy Fallon
Nightly News and Today are at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, across the street from 30 Rockefeller Plaza where SNL and Fallon are produced.
