My Life is Murder

Didnt I read the 2nd season was going to be animated? So its not?

You must have dreamt that.

Season 2 will air first on FTA in New Zealand, on TVNZ1 next Monday (August 9) at 8.30pm.

EDIT 4/8: when it premieres in Australia on Acorn, it will begin with the first two episodes on August 30, with a new episode every Monday from September 6 to October 25.

Watching the premiere on TVNZ tonight, they’ve done a good job continuing the show even considering the change of location. Same vibe and doesn’t feel overly NZ focused, so can work in Australia too I think without too much trouble.

It was introduced as a TVNZ Original, in association with Network 10.

The show premieres on Acorn TV on 30th August, I wonder when 10 plan on scheduling this. Maybe after Lie With Me wraps in a few weeks?

Acorn usually has a screening window of several months, so 10 may not be able to season 2 until early 2022.

I figured that, just surprised its lunched on TVNZ1 first given it originally aired on 10. You’d think they would have retained some first run rights given they originally commissioned it, but I guess if it wasn’t for TVNZ / Acorn it wouldn’t be getting a second season.

Acorn has renewed the drama for a third season.

Season 2 moved to NZ and Acorn TV, but Network 10 still has second window rights and will screen S2 mid year.

What is it with all of Ten’s drama co productions (even though this is basically solely a NZ production) airing several months after having aired elsewhere. Everyone that wanted to see it would have done so already by various other means.

I would have much preferred to see Miss Fisher’s Modern Mysteries renewed.

I tried to get into season 1 but it was so bland and the move to NZ just killed it. They also kept the most annoying feature of that sidekick character.

Season 3 premieres on TVNZ1 next Monday (August 29) at 8.30pm. It will air on Acorn TV in the US on October 10, but the Australian broadcast date is yet to be confirmed.

Lucy Lawless (Spartacus, Xena: Warrior Princess) reprises her popular role as irrepressible investigator Alexa Crowe in her hometown of Auckland, New Zealand with ten new cases that pit her against fascinating, powerful and surprising suspects each week — everyone from eccentric billionaires to grieving florists, and from tango dancers to fiery fashionistas. The only thing they have in common is that none of them are expecting Alexa’s unique brand of crime solving, but they quickly learn that you underestimate Alexa Crowe at your own risk. My Life Is Murder is a Greenstone TV Production for TVNZ and Acorn TV and DCD Rights Ltd., in association with Network 10. The series’ executive producers are Rachel Antony, Claire Tonkin, Lucy Lawless, Harriet Crampton, Nicky Davies Williams, Pilar Perez and Don Klees, and the producer is Mark Beesley.

10 still haven’t aired the second season, yet kiwi viewers are about to get the third - wild.

Given the delay in it premiering on FTA and how long it will have been between seasons, the network is really not doing themselves, drama, or their audiences any favours.

They (10) should have secured first run rights like TVNZ, then Acorn could’ve had second window rights for streaming audiences.

It won’t last long in the 8:40 slot. It will be bumped to 10:30 soon after. Anyone that even is remotely interested in this show or watched it in the past will not remember it still exists.

They need to promote it and they should have already been running promos but they’re too busy only promoting one reality tentpole show.

No real point promoting something that rated ordinary on its first airing that they weren’t going to bring back. It has been 2 years between seasons and they’ve had on the shelf for a while, clearly they have little confidence in the show.

No. They should be promoting EVERYTHING not just one trntpole show. How do expect to build an audience for anything if you cant be bothered?

That would be fine if it was 7 or 9 but this is 10 where they need as many eyeballs on them as possible. If I was them I would be giving promotion to all first run TV.

I’d argue that’s probably got more to do with Acorn TV’s exclusivity period than 10 just not wanting to play it.

Not arguing they shouldn’t promote anything else, and agree they spend far too much time promoting the same old show, but just not THIS show.

They’ll give it the bare minimum of course, but it’s destined for low figures regardless of whatever promotion they throw at it.

Easy to talk in hypotheticals, yet this is 10 and won’t be the case, it should be though.

Undoubtedly, but by the same token I don’t think they’re rushing to get it to air given everything I mentioned.
