My Kitchen Rules

I am not sure it is worth the $20 but if you are a big fan of the show I can understand. I know I am not rushing off to the Adelaide Show to buy this. My sister went to the show the other day and bought a Hubba Bubba (mind the spelling) show bag. It cost $6 - bargain? Nope. 3 hubba bubbas were in the bag and a pack of 4. So 7 in total. My point is don’t expect a larger chopping board - which is of the most value.

What? No Manu or Pete action figures with matching toy kitchen?

Anything paleo in the tote bag?

Well a quick search on ebay and I could find the MKR apron and MKR tins each individually selling for around $30 each. So if you wanted them I guess this is good value. Most non kiddy showbags are around $20-$30 anyway so it’s definitely not overpriced.

Fair enough @JBar you think its rubbish but @JohnsonTV has nothing to be embarrassed about after all he is a long time fan of this program as you are well aware.

Is it embarrassing to admit I often get the Port Adelaide Show bag. I haven’t been to the show in years but I was an adult getting this. haha - If there was a Game of Thrones bag I would give someone money to get it for me :stuck_out_tongue: Is there a Game of Thrones show bag?

Seven will produce the New Zealand version of My Kitchen Rules next year, with Pete and Manu as judges, meaning both men will be occupied with the franchise for the next 12 months or so (season 8 of Australian version is currently filming). TVNZ previously produced MKR NZ and will continue to show it in 2017.
More details in New Zealand TV thread.

I wonder if Seven might consider showing the NZ version in the second half of next year.

Wonder if it could work on 7Two or 7flix?

A horse running in race 3 is named My Kitchen Rules. The irony as Racing.com is run by 7!

They wouldn’t want to risk diluting their biggest brand a la the block.

Could dump it on 7TWO though.

The reviews are in for the UK version of MKR with most describing the show as “as obvious fusion of MasterChef and Come Dine With Me”. Amazingly one even commented on the graphics and fonts !!!

My Kitchen Rules is edible as background viewing but certainly no showstopper

But it wasn’t just the lack of originality. “The production felt wobbly, presumably down to its daytime budget (the show airs at 5.00pm). Graphics and on-screen fonts looked horribly dated, like an advert for matching saucepan sets on QVC.”

Christopher Steven’s reviews last night’s TV - My Kitchen Rules

My Kitchen Rules, on Channel 4, is a more conventional and, frankly, hackneyed format borrowed from Australian TV — a combination of Come Dine With Me and Masterchef.

Most off-putting of all was the way the contestants kept popping up on a sofa in a studio, reading scripted remarks as a running commentary on their own efforts.

My Kitchen Rules review – Come Dine With Me + MasterChef = bland fare

“If it was a recipe, it wouldn’t be a very difficult one,” he said. “Take Come Dine With Me, add MasterChef, and there you have it: My Kitchen Rules.

The scoring process is long and laborious – the other contestants judge their rivals’ meals, then Prue and Michael judge the individual courses.

Sounds about as great as the Australian version

Thank God. Sometimes I feel like I’m insane when I have people on this site like JBar telling me something like MKR is fantastic when it is obviously rubbish. Thankfully there are normal people in this world that can smell a turd when they see one.

Hate to be snarky, but that ain’t irony.

I’d like to know when I allegedly said MKR was “fantastic”. What is extraordinary is the way their ratings crush the competition. Well, at least you got the insane part right. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

It really doesn’t matter whether you think MKR is shit or not. It’s still Australia’s highest rating television show. So enjoying eating that turd sandwich. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

“Fantastic” or some derivative of fantastic - you know you have expressed that sentiment before. In particular, my point is that you have over many years been very snarky when someone like myself applies the blowtorch of criticism to a show like this - even though the same comments are now being freely published in the UK media.

OK, let’s not pass comment on the actual show, let’s just sit in corner like a toddler and repeat endlessly that it’s Australia’s highest rating television show. Maybe it means Australians can’t see a turd sandwich when they’re eating one?

Well, if anyone would know it would be you because you have such discerning taste in reality shows. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Brits whinge about anything though /stereotype
