My Kitchen Rules

I don’t know how the sisters won so comfortably. The only criticism I can recall from the whole final was from Colin on the sisters’ 2nd dish, which was too hot for him, but no mention of that in the final critique. The sisters were probably more adventurous, so maybe they deserved to win, but not by that margin after all the praise for Carmine & Lauren, and not a single blemish. Their first dish being “safe” from one judge was the worst they could say about anything.

That’s why I think it’s stupid the way that each judge just gives an overall score after 5 courses. The judges should score each individual dish that is served to them like they do in the home cooking rounds. Also what equates to the difference between scoring seems pretty fluid on this show. Based on comments which didn’t really fault a thing you would have thought every team would have got a 9 or 10. Adding into the fact that they film two endings and probably read both those scores out to each team… is it really a surprise that the more villain contestant lost and likeable team won?

While im happy the sisters won, cant help feeling that Carmine and Lauren were duped over their ‘role’ in the show.

A version of Australia’s hit cooking series My Kitchen Rules is heading to the U.S. Fox has ordered eight episodes of the unscripted series based on the Australian hit that pits celebrity duos against each other as they cook and critique each other’s food in Hollywood homes. The teams will take turns hosting intimate dinner parties with a menu designed to impress their rival competitors and professional chef judges, Curtis Stone (Top Chef Masters) and Cat Cora.

Deadline.

Former contestant Ash Pollard is joining Yahoo7’s Be website where she will provide cooking recipes and demonstration videos.

Manu posted on Instagram this week that he and Pete are back on the road, filming instant restaurants for season 8. Another person tweeted that she saw the crew filming in Burnie in northern Tasmania on Tuesday this week, meaning there will be at least one team from the Apple Isle next season.

News Corp reports Seven is looking for well-established cooks and food bloggers to compete in the upcoming season of MKR. But how is it possible given filming has already started? Is Seven planning to have the professionals in Colin Fassnidge’s group? Is Seven struggling to find suitable applicants that it has to resort to professionals?

I would assume that the casting process is well and truly over and this article is reporting on what has occurred.

Further the appeal of this show / the way it’s marketed is that these are everyday people cooking from there homes, so going an angle of semi-professionals kind of kills what the show is all about. IF they are approaching food bloggers and semi professionals to increase the quality of food on the show, I’m sure some of these people casted would still be presented to us as everyday people. This show is the fakest on TV and I don’t see why they wouldn’t do otherwise.

Maybe seven are considering doing a second series next year? I think its time for them to do an All Stars shorter season.

MKR: The Professionals…

Professional whats? Reality show contestants?

If blogging about food is ‘raising the bar’ then where was the bar to begin with?

I’m referring to Johnson’s comment of them potentially casting well-established cooks.

Has anyone got one of those MKR showbags at various agricultural shows this year? You will get two more chances, at the Royal Adelaide Show (on now until September 11) and the Royal Melbourne Show (September 17-27). The showbag costs $20 and these are the contents:

Aren’t you embarrassed to admit you actually spent $20 on that rubbish?

I am going to the Royal Melbourne Show this year to spend $20 on this so-called rubbish, I really want to get that apron and the bag! In fact The Advertiser calls it one of the top 10 showbags of this year’s Royal Adelaide Show.

I thought they were selling the aprons for like 50 cents at Coles. I can’t remember precisely, but they were on the bargain trolley at some point in the last few years.

Looks overpriced for $20.

Also available at the Perth Royal Show, September 24th - October 1st.
