Oz format My Kitchen Rules returns to the UK[/quote]
It’s big news that it went from a pay tv channel to the free-to-air Channel 4. Didn’t they do a similar thing with Masterchef in the UK? After the success of the Aussie series, they tweaked the concept and relaunched it with great success on BBC1.

Manu said at the start of tonight’s instant restaurant there would be a game-changing twist at the end of the redemption round. I wonder what it was. This could mean a team with the lowest score could still make it to the next round.

“This year, there are not one, not two, not three, not four but FIVE ROUNDS OF INSTANT RESTAURANTS.”

Or even MORE Instant Restaurant rounds !!!

I think there were 5 last year

If you include the extra one at the end, yes.

welcome to the world of sponsored product placement. They could well have had some product ready for filming knowing full well it would not go to air until after it had hit the shelves.

Nev pronouncing jus as “juss” in tonight’s episode was so funny
Nev and Kell’s previous instant restaurant started with a high and finished with a low. Tonight was the complete opposite.

I reckon the twist at the end of redemption round on Sunday will be the six team’s final score is the higher of their first round instant restaurant or redemption round instant restaurant.
After tonight’s episode, the team’s scores from the two rounds were (redemption round shown in bold):
Nev and Kell: 56 and 71
Alex and Gareth: 60 and 69
Hazel and Lisa: 57 and 63
Monique and Sarah: 68 and 62
Rosie and Paige: 59 and 79
Carmine and Lauren: 51
Based on the comparison, Rosie and Paige, Nev and Kell, and the QLD miners would be safely through to the next round.

Team cooking challenges start next Monday according to a promo just aired. There will be cooking challenges at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre (former champion swimmer Liesel Jones will be guest judge) and Carriageworks (not far from Kitchen HQ at Redfern) and also a fishing challenge. Curtis Stone will be a guest judge in a cook-off at Kitchen HQ.

I hope Monique/Sarah and Carmine/Lauren are the 2 who are eliminated.

The way things stand now there’s a good chance of at least one of them being eliminated on Sunday night.

I hope Lisa and her eyebrows are eliminated

But you won’t be able to tell if she is relieved or devastated because her forehead and eyebrows never move. :stuck_out_tongue:

How about we compromise

We keep Lisa and I’ll remove her eyebrows for you

I like the instant restaurants!

And lol at the twist that meant we got the exact same result we would have gotten without the twist.

They really know how to suck you in with the promos. The next round promo looked really good too.

MKR competition heads to Kitchen HQ after double elimination

The MKR competition moves into Kitchen HQ Monday night as a series of challenges begin to test the skills and stamina of the remaining 13 teams.

A shock twist left all teams unclear on their place on the leader board tonight following Carmine & Lauren’s final shot at redemption.

With host Pete Evans explaining that redemption goes hand-in-hand with improvement, it was the teams who increased their first round scores the most who lived to fight another round. Sadly, that meant Queensland’s Hazel & Lisa (six point improvement) and Monique and Sarah (minus six) departed the competition.

Their exit also ended the fierce competitive barbs being traded around the table between Lauren and the departed Monique and Lisa.

As she prepared to welcome guests into her home, Lauren quipped: “Getting rid of those two teams would be nice. I wouldn’t miss them.”

While their second attempt at serving diners was immensely more successful that their first with a 24-point improvement and Manu asking for a doggy-bag of their Saffron Cockles and Mussels entrée, baking queen Lauren was left broken-hearted when her dessert failed.

“Unfortunately your dessert didn’t live up to its name,” said Pete of Lauren’s Famous Mud Cake. “The cake is light and crumbly, not as dense as I expect a mud cake. The ganache still has grainy bits of sugar in it that hasn’t dissolved properly so it’s gritty which gives you an unpleasant mouth feel. The ice cream unfortunately is icy and lacking in flavour,” he said in awarding it a five.

Despite table-talk accusations of strategic scoring, the duo polled 33/50 from their fellow competitors to keep them safe for another week.

Tomorrow night (March 14) the teams’ first challenge is to cook lunch buffet-style for 100 guests.

I notice that the media release ends with
