Oh that would have been an excellent night!
Noticed this otherwise unremarkable movie - the name translates to 10 Days Without Mum.
But for some reason the English title is - would that sell better to English speakers that the original title translated?
Stupid bloody Pommies.
Has anyone else seen Better Man yet?
I saw it a couple of weeks back at a preview - thought it was excellent and considering seeing it again.
The chimp thing actually worked really well.
Thought it was great, some many highs and lows, and even some tears.
If you know his career and that of Take That there are so many little references throughout the whole movie.
Great use of the music in ways that you wouldnât always expect.
Watching latest release on Binge Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die (2024).
I had no idea about the Theresa Randle thing, hope she is okay, she was in a few things in the 90s, memorable role in Wesley Snipes peak era flick âSugar Hillâ and was also in Malcolm X, Beverly Hills Cop 3, Space Jam and briefly on TV in Criminal Intent in 2007. As well as the other 3 Bad Boys films most notably going back to 1995âs original.
Also like how Jerry Bruckheimer Films use the former âDon Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimerâ logo on sequels and reboots of titles originally produced by that former production partnership. Simpson passed away in the mid-90s after âThe Rockâ.
It was nice getting Joe Pantoliano back once again for some cameos, following his departure in 2020âs instalment. He is such a brilliant character actor, always loved him since âThe Fugitiveâ, even before that in I think it was âMidnight Runâ in the 80s.
wasnât sure if the âAward Ceremoniesâ thread was right
Demi Moore, in the speech of the night, said ââŚ30 years ago, a producer said I was just a âpopcorn actressââŚâ
I was curious, as Iâm sure many wouldâve also been pondering when she said that, just who it couldâve been.
Some suggestions:
Indecent Proposal (1993)
-Sherry Lansing (produced by)
-Tom Schulman (executive producer)
-Alex Gartner (executive producer)
Disclosure (1994)
-Michael Crichton (produced by)
-Barry Levinson (produced by)
-Peter Giuliano (executive producer)
But it also couldâve been during production during 1994 on a 1995 release, of which she starred in 3 films. And it also couldâve just been a random producer approaching her at an awards night during any of those years or an an office during potential scouting and casting sessions or even more or less than 30 years if not taken literally. So who knows.
I find it hard to believe itâd be a fellow woman, so unlikely Lansing. She was head of production at Columbia in the late 70s, Fox in the early 80s, then struck a partnership with a producer from Columbiaâs '79 âKramer vs Kramerâ and produced hits, acclaimed and award winners in the late 80s âFatal Attractionâ, âThe Accusedâ and âBlack Rainâ. Before becoming head of Paramount thanks to those 3 movies, from the early 90s until the 2004 Viacom split, the studioâs most successful period since the 1930s, including âGhostâ, âForrest Gumpâ, âBraveheartâ and âSaving Private Ryanâ.
Wouldnât be surprised if it were Crichton or Levinson though, being two well known Hollywood identities and were familiar with that âpopcornâ space especially the former and perhaps hadnât been as used to working with a female star of the likes of Moore nor the thematics and genre of Disclosure.
The witch hunt begins.

Just saw Better Man. Loved it! Incredible use of the music to tell the story.
Robbie Williams $179m biopic becomes disastrous box office bomb
Robbie Williamsâ blockbuster biopic Better Man performed disastrously at the US box office over the weekend becoming the first bomb of the year.
The bizarre flick, in which the popular British pop star is portrayed by a CGI chimpanzee, has received glowing reviews from critics.
However, despite a warm reception from reviewers, the film â produced for a whopping $179 million â failed to make an impression upon its release.
Just $1m in North America, with a budget of that, that is absolutely shocking and itâs not a surprise after the markets he appeals to (UK, Australia for example) also had poor showings. Perhaps his demographic werenât keen on the chimp idea?
Because most Americans donât know who Robbie Williams is?
DAVID LYNCH 1946-2025
Inland Empire is a film not a movie. It truly embodies David Lynchâs distinctive style. Itâs a surreal, experimental journey that challenges conventional storytelling. If youâre a fan of Lynchâs work and enjoy films that push the boundaries of narrative and visual art, Inland Empire is definitely worth watching. Laura Dernâs performance is particularly noteworthy and adds depth to the film.
The face of one of Australiaâs most iconic films said he âtotallyâ agreed with calls for the nationâs censor to review Crocodile Dundee, claiming it is not âabout being wokeâ.
Paul Hogan, who took on the character of Mick âCrocodileâ Dundee in his breakout role in the 1986 Aussie classic, walked the red carpet at the premiere of the âencore cutâ 4K digital restoration of the film on Thursday evening.
The new âencore cutâ was shown to audiences at the OpenAir Cinema at Mrs Macquaries Point in Sydneyâs Royal Botanic Gardens, with Hogan revealing it was âamazingâ to see the film in the spotlight once again.
The film made headlines earlier this week when it was revealed it could be reclassified by the Australian Classification Board (ACB) if theyâre granted the right to review content every 10 years independent of the federal government.
Despite furore from Labor minister Clare OâNeil earlier in the week over the calls, Hogan told NewsWire he âtotallyâ agreed with changing the film.
âI heard about it years ago, it started, and it wasnât about being woke,â Hogan said.
âThey pointed out to me and said âThis guy is a folk hero around the world, and he shouldnât be groping peopleâ.
âAnd I thought, âYeah thatâs right, he shouldnât beâ, so take it out.
âI mean, he did it in all innocence, in naivety, but itâs better without it.â
What? Dundee in 4k? YES!!! Iâm Watching that!!!
