Oh that would have been an excellent night!

Noticed this otherwise unremarkable movie - the name translates to 10 Days Without Mum.

But for some reason the English title is - would that sell better to English speakers that the original title translated?

Stupid bloody Pommies.

Has anyone else seen Better Man yet?

I saw it a couple of weeks back at a preview - thought it was excellent and considering seeing it again.

The chimp thing actually worked really well.

Thought it was great, some many highs and lows, and even some tears.

If you know his career and that of Take That there are so many little references throughout the whole movie.

Great use of the music in ways that you wouldn’t always expect.

Watching latest release on Binge Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die (2024).

I had no idea about the Theresa Randle thing, hope she is okay, she was in a few things in the 90s, memorable role in Wesley Snipes peak era flick “Sugar Hill” and was also in Malcolm X, Beverly Hills Cop 3, Space Jam and briefly on TV in Criminal Intent in 2007. As well as the other 3 Bad Boys films most notably going back to 1995’s original.

Also like how Jerry Bruckheimer Films use the former “Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer” logo on sequels and reboots of titles originally produced by that former production partnership. Simpson passed away in the mid-90s after “The Rock”.

It was nice getting Joe Pantoliano back once again for some cameos, following his departure in 2020’s instalment. He is such a brilliant character actor, always loved him since “The Fugitive”, even before that in I think it was “Midnight Run” in the 80s.

Now THIS is a movie!

wasn’t sure if the “Award Ceremonies” thread was right

Demi Moore, in the speech of the night, said ‘…30 years ago, a producer said I was just a “popcorn actress”…’

I was curious, as I’m sure many would’ve also been pondering when she said that, just who it could’ve been.

Some suggestions:

Indecent Proposal (1993)
-Sherry Lansing (produced by)
-Tom Schulman (executive producer)
-Alex Gartner (executive producer)

Disclosure (1994)
-Michael Crichton (produced by)
-Barry Levinson (produced by)
-Peter Giuliano (executive producer)

But it also could’ve been during production during 1994 on a 1995 release, of which she starred in 3 films. And it also could’ve just been a random producer approaching her at an awards night during any of those years or an an office during potential scouting and casting sessions or even more or less than 30 years if not taken literally. So who knows.

I find it hard to believe it’d be a fellow woman, so unlikely Lansing. She was head of production at Columbia in the late 70s, Fox in the early 80s, then struck a partnership with a producer from Columbia’s '79 “Kramer vs Kramer” and produced hits, acclaimed and award winners in the late 80s “Fatal Attraction”, “The Accused” and “Black Rain”. Before becoming head of Paramount thanks to those 3 movies, from the early 90s until the 2004 Viacom split, the studio’s most successful period since the 1930s, including “Ghost”, “Forrest Gump”, “Braveheart” and “Saving Private Ryan”.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it were Crichton or Levinson though, being two well known Hollywood identities and were familiar with that ‘popcorn’ space especially the former and perhaps hadn’t been as used to working with a female star of the likes of Moore nor the thematics and genre of Disclosure.

The witch hunt begins.
