So does this mean he/films with him in them can still win Oscars?

10-year penalty is a bit harsh. A 5-year ban is more appropriate.

Also, shouldn’t Chris Rock be punished for his jibe that sparked all of this?

You want to ban all jokes too?

He is still eligible to be nominated and win Oscars.

Looks like the massive marketing campaign paid off in addition to the reception from critics.

On the critics’ side, the movie currently boasts a 96 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Interesting audience demos too.

Moviegoers over the age of 35 — a demo that has been largely MIA since the pandemic struck — turned out in force.

Until now, the big box office winners of the pandemic era have been superhero films fueled by moviegoers in the 18-34 age group (think Spider-Man: No Way Home). Top Gun 2 shattered that pattern in luring consumers 18 and older (teenagers were the only lagging demo).

Saw it today. It really is a film that you do need to see in a movie theatre or a comparable home theatre setup. The first film was great but the sequel has outdone itself. Great cinematography, the plot is definitely character driven. It’s a definite nostalgia hit for those who remember the first film vividly - but without the overt cheesiness. I was smiling throughout - even in tears in some.

Just a curiosity question here guys.

When you go to the cinemas do you go to the normal viewing sessions or only Gold Class?

Or a mixture depending on the movie?

usually just the normal sessions, but after treating myself to Gold Class to watch the new Spider-Man, I might have to make GC my usual for movies

Haha that’s exactly why I asked the question.

After being treated to GC for the first time for The Batman, I haven’t looked back.
