That’s unusual, usually they pick a rating and stick with it?

There have been appeals against a movie’s rating in the past.

Not uncommon for distributors to appeal if a rating potentially limits the scope / audience of a film.
Back in the day they’d cut scenes instead to make sure it is approved for a PG / G rating.

Wonder if this is the beginning of the end for this brief experiment of releasing some feature films for streaming at the same time as cinemas.

It depends on the distributor.

A couple of words about Dune. Dune looks great visually, the cameraman’s work deserves the highest mark, but at the same time the plot is weak, in the second half it becomes simply boring and predictable. The actors play well, but many of them just don’t have enough time to reveal their character. Maybe television format would be much better solution than separated movie…

Changes to this year with several categories not broadcast live.

  • film editing
  • makeup/hairstyling
  • original score
  • production design
  • sound
  • documentary short
  • animated short
  • live-action short

… the presentations and acceptance of eight awards … will take place inside the Dolby Theatre an hour before the live telecast commences, will be recorded and will then be edited into the subsequent live broadcast, a variation of a controversial approach that the Academy first adopted and then abandoned in 2018.

Vietnam has banned Mark Wahlberg action flick Uncharted, because it contains the “nine-dash-line” which is used on Chinese maps to illustrate the country’s disputed claims to vast areas in the resource-rich South China Sea. Vietnam calls the “nine-dash-line” illegal.
