Also, pretty sure Nine are using their old tapes just re-formatted as need be, from circa 15 years ago or more, when they were remastered by studios for DVD and digital (including TV and Pay) including widescreen and high definition for those home sets with the capability back then (now standard), something that was obviously not the case in (e.g.) 1990s and decades prior when films made their way to television, initially often for the first time decades later like Gone with the Wind when it famously first came on, also pre VHS, in that letterboxed format and grainy quality.
Whereas Seven’s were new, the latest provided by the studio a few years back.
IIRC Some movies like The Lego Movie are the same but different. The first has VRP co-funding the movie, while the second one doesn’t. Because VRP/WB films have different deals to WB-only films, the first one was on Nine last year with The Second Part on 7. Now that the WB films are all on Nine (the VRP films are shared with 10) the two can air together when it is Nine’s turn to show VRP films.
Albeit one that was made more than 16 years ago in 10’s previous output with Paramount from 2003.
This from Friday December 29 in 2006 indicates tonight’s airing is the same tape (“widescreen”, “high definition” and “M: sex” classication):

Nerd or in-depth alert. I’d noticed something peculiar about the Bond movies provided to Nine (years ago but don’t think it’d been mentioned), every single movie prior to say the Daniel Craig era had been plastered with the early 2000s MGM logo (with the mid 1980s Leo but add “www.mgm.com”) and early 2000s United Artists logo (the glossy silver “UA” one). They were all remastered in the late 90s and early 2000s for the first DVD collection and again in 2006, including for digital purchase and TV.
Except for:
The Spy Who Loved Me (which had the 2008 to 2012 brighter MGM logo and the URL was minus the “www”).
The Living Daylights (which kept the UA logo from that year).
Licence to Kill (which kept the UA logo from that year).
Goldeneye (which kept the original print’s MGM and UA logos from that year, almost like this movie wasn’t remastered).
Seems odd that these wouldn’t have been altered like all the others. Either they were missed (unlikely), obtained by Nine in a different package/time or intentionally left to preserve some logo history as some sort of studio quirk.
Something interesting is supposed to happen with the same movie franchise. Lethal Weapon 1 is scheduled to air tonight at 10:30pm on Nine. However, Lethal Weapon 4 will be airing on 7mate on Monday at 11:30pm.
It means that Lethal Weapon 2 and 3 will be skipped, which is a problem with different movies of the same franchise airing on different networks. Eventually all WB films will be gone off Seven and all on Nine (except Village films, which have a different deal)
I saw a 7mate promo for “Mad Mel Mondays” movies marathon, “Lethal Weapon 2, 3 and 4” were featured. And yes it’s unfortunate and been mentioned in threads before.
