Married At Frist Sight had a rare second placed ranking in the reach table as the Super Bowl took the number one spot as viewers tuned in across the long broadcast. Married however retained its rank as the number one show on average audience with over 1.4 million, though down slightly on the previous week.
Idol put in a good performance to achieve a season high average audience, up 100k week-on-week. Seven News also got a boost but Home and Away was down 40k. Later the premiere of Irrational managed 389k. It was up against Nine’s Big Miracles dropped from season debut by 75k.
Meanwhile Survivor was down 20k on the previous Monday though still ranked second in key demos.
Nemesis concluded on ABC with another impressive rating, equal wit last week. Media Week that followed was up by 60k.
In the afternoon The Chase got a big boost from Seven’s afternoon and was 100k ahead of Tipping Point in average audience.
The superbowl ending + post match stuff occurred during the first 15-20mins of the 3pm Chase UK slot in Vic, NSW, TAS (also it actually didn’t air), that’s probably why reach is close to 1mill
A perfect storm that will never be repeated again for the Super Bowl/Seven and presumably ESPN (although Swifties unlikely to have ended up there as much)
I know it’s a different ratings system but Idol seems to be doing a lot better than last year. I’m a fan so it’s good to see but what’s the reasoning? Is it the return of Marcia?

Note that these are broadcast TV numbers. That may sometimes lead to PR releases seeming to differ as to which program won a market if the network is using Total TV numbers that included live BVOD.
Today was a good example of the note above where Nine claimed a win in Sydney - when BVOD is included Nine had 222k to Seven's 215k.
It’s all a mess.
9’s release claims 9News won in Sydney and Today won nationally, but using which table? I can’t see either. So bloody confusing.
Massive result for Seven yesterday with the Super Bowl, much bigger than I expected, probably a combination of tight tense contest and thrilling late stages, Tay Tay and Kelce, Chiefs run over preceding years, even more people now WFH on Mondays here, heatwave in Victoria and other parts (sickies, uni students still off, etc) and just more general interest/following of gridiron/NFL and word of mouth. An acquaintance who is in hospital told my a staff member there told them just about every room had the game switched on.
