That only happens if 7 wins full control of AFL coverage

Perhaps the Racing channel could be converted to a sports channel. If Seven can secure at the very least a AFL deal with access to more AFL games and then secure a better deal for Cricket rights with Cricket Australia it would provide some more meat to such a product.

Supercars could also be simulcast on this channel

Assuming they were prepared to spend money on such a project, add in the possibility to revive Sportsworld and screen it either 8:30am Saturday and Sunday mornings on a sports channel for 2 and a half hours (simulcast on either 7 main channel or 7Mate - if on the main channel shift the weekend editions of The Morning Show could move to 7Two).

AFL Sports Day could screen at 11am Sundays during the AFL season and a cricket chat show over Summer at 11am Sundays.

11am Saturday could show the week in horse racing plus a look at the days horse races ahead.

Chuck in a general sports show, even a 15 minute NRL show once a week.

Funny you should suggest that. I was going to say that a general sports show could air around 7pm nightly on a sports channel or even 7Mate (if a sports channel didnt eventuate), possibly call it Seven Sports Nightly, occasionally time shifted for sports such as AFL or cricket. It could encore on 7 after The Latest or AFL/mid evening movie on Friday and Saturday - possibly after a 5 minute Nightline like newsbreak.

Seven 2023 morning to to early evening. Neighbours return to its original home after almost 40 years on 10/10 Peach

5.30am-9.00am - Sunrise
9.00am-11am - TMS
11.00am-1130am - 11am (reboot)
11.30am-12.00pm - Seven Morning News (local markets)
12.00pm-2.00pm - Midday movie
2.00pm-3.00pm - Primetime encore
3.00pm-4.00pm - The Chase UK
4.00pm-5.00pm - The Chase Australia
5.00pm-5.30pm - 7 News at 5 (national)
5.30pm-6.00pm - Neighbours
6.00pm-7.00pm - Seven News (local markets)
7.00pm-7.30pm - Home and Away

I am not so sure about this schedule. However, it could give regionals opportunities to find a timeslot for the local news without disturbing the main bulletin at 6pm.

One option could be the main channel airing an encore of Neighbours on regionals at 11:30am and channel shifting the original broadcast to 7Two. This would free up the 5:30pm slot for local news.

Another option could be screening Neighbours at 5pm and local news at 5:30pm

I am not a fan of trying to revive Neighbours so soon after its axing, remember the attempt of A Country Practice by Ten the year after 7 axed it. However, Heartbreak High did ok on ABC after Ten dropped it.

I would favour a re-boot of Today Tonight to air at either 5:30pm, 6pm or 6:30pm and 11AM if rebooted remaining a 1 hour program. Sunrise and The Morning Show should air half an hour earlier if 11am was rebooted. With Sunrise running 3 or 3 and half hours, I dont think a half hour news bulletin at 5am is needed.

Why not just run 30 minutes earlier for everything else and run the news for 60 minutes?

Why is AFL only on for 1 hour 50 minutes on Sundays? Shouldnt it air for at least another hour on the different channels, either start 1 hour earlier or end 1 hour later?

Part of the problem is the network becomes hooked on the sugar hit from spreading Studio 10’s costs over four hours, with programming g not having to find money to fund that fourth hour of content. Would def be better with less than that daily marathon. Any daily host would surely end up in an insane asylum.

I agree, but really that’s because no one is watching so they need to get something out of it. The Circle was at its highest figures when it aired 10-12. I feel like there’s an audience for a later/over midday timeslot like This Morning does on ITV. Especially with some news hits, and if they played with the format a bit more and had more in-studio segments, cooking etc.

Yes I know I’ve used all the big names but it would only be for a year to launch the channel. On weekends, up and coming reporters would replace Usher, Blowers and Smithson after one year.

For 10’s daytime schedule, i also like the idea of moving Studio 10 to a later slot for a more brunch/lunch slot. This would be my version:

6.00am: cooking shows (r)
6.30: Bold and the Beautiful (r)
7.00: Judge Judy (r)
7.30: Morning News (simple headline news)
8.00: The Talk
9.00: Dr Phil
10.00: Studio 10
1.00: Primetime (reality) repeat
2.30: Entertainment Tonight
3.00: Judge Judy
3.30: onwards as normal (cooking shows)

I’m not sold on moving Studio 10, mainly due to the fact that its an established brand at that time. I think that the network needs to invest in itself and bring something new to the table at midday. If they can get someone popular like David Campbell to host it, then it would take off. The only 2 names I can think of that would have anywhere near that would have his appeal are Lisa Wilkinson and Sandra Sully, both of which present programs at nights, where most of the advertising dollars are. For illustrative purposes I have put Joel Hildebrand’s name in but I am thinking Hugh Riminton or Chris Bath may be better placed given I would make it more 11am meets The Midday Show.

I think that if Ten spent just a little more money, they could screen Studio 10 for 3 hours 6 days a week Sunday to Friday with the Saturday being a 3 hour weekly highlights show, then produce a daily 1 hour program called Studio 10 Express, which could air in the afternoons and then repeated at say 6am every day. It could also encore late afternoons on 10Bold.

Here is how my day on Ten would look

Weekdays
5:00 Entertainment Tonight
5:30am Good Chef Bad Chef
6:00am Studio 10 Express (r)
7:00am Ten Morning News
8:00am Studio 10 Express
11:00am Dr Phil
12:00pm Noon with Joel Hildebrand
1:00pm Studio 10 Express
2:00pm The Talk
3:00pm Cooking Shows
4:00pm Judge Judy (replaced by a cooking show when Judge Judy ends)
4:30pm Bold And The Beautiful

Saturday
5:00am Joseph Prince
5:30am Joel Osteen
6:00am Studio 10 Express (rpt)
7:00am The Living Room (rpt)
8:00am Studio 10 Weekly
11:00am 10’s Kitchen
1:00pm as Scheduled

Sunday
5:00am Hour Of Power
6:00am Mass
6:30am Religion
7:00am Fishing/lifestyle shows (or Face The Nation Australia if Ten was willing to spend the money)
8:00am Studio 10
11:00am Cooking shows
12:00pm As scheduled

I would move reality encores to 10Peach twice daily, at midday and then around 6pm to fill the hole left by Neighbours being axed. The 7:30pm program from the night before would screen in those times if a reality program wasnt on.

Early TV would look something like this

Monday
12:30am Infomercials
3:00am CBS Sunday Morning
4:15am CBS Face The Nation

Tuesday to Friday
12:30am CBS This Morning
2:00am Infomercials

Saturday
12:30am CBS This Morning
2:00am Infomercials
4:30am Leading The Way

Sunday
12:30am CBS This Morning Saturday
2:00am Infomercials

The Project and The Late Show would screen from around 10:30pm

ET could be edited if early programs overrun eg Monday mornings with CBS Sunday Morning and CBS Face The Nation from around 3am.

I would put the infomercials that Ten’s main channel would drop overnights at 11am weekdays on 10Peach. I know a lot of people arent fans of this but I think Ten needs to start trying to battle Nine and Seven a bit more.

It has already ended, not sure why you would replace a CBS distribution program with ANOTHER cooking show. The overlords would not be happy there.

What would you do with the M-rated Dr Phil episodes, edit them out?

Battle in what way? There are no ratings in infomercials nor are there any significant ratings post-midnight, outside once-a-year special events.
