Mock news presenting/reporting teams

That weekend team won’t work. We saw what happened in 2019 with a two female hosts and the audience reacted.

Why don’t you think it won’t? Georgie and Deb was let down by the whole show imploding at the time and their chemistry wasn’t the best.

It’s worth a shot I reckon.

The current team Dickie and Bec) don’t work because of the location. You either need 2 Sydney presenters or 2 Melbourne presenters. Hosts of the Weekend team should be Charles Croucher and Sophie Walsh

It’s only a fantasy/mock presenting team so it will probably never happen but if it does, probably won’t be the worst option.

Sunrise/Weekend Sunrise post-Kochie

Sunrise
Co-Hosts: Basil Zempilas & Natalie Barr
News: Edwina Bartholomew
Sport: Mark Beretta
Weather: Sam Mac

Weekend Sunrise
Co-Hosts: Michael Usher & Monique Wright
News: Sally Bowrey
Sport: Matt Carmichael
Weather: James Tobin

Matt Doran would be redeployed to Seven News Sydney to present Friday and Saturday bulletins, training him up to be Mark Ferguson’s successor.

Once Basil Zempilas’ term as Lord Mayor finishes, I would attempt to lure him back to Sydney on a full-time basis to host Sunrise. I believe his personality is perfect for the role, he’s familiar to viewers, and he can show a bit of a daggy dad side to him that Kochie does.

Gross. Basil is a bigoted man. Keep him in Perth and off the national news.

Perhaps another idea for Today:

Today
Hosts: Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon
News/Sports: Alex Cullen
Weather: Tim Davies
Entertainment: Brooke Boney

Today Extra
Hosts: David Campbell and Belinda Russell

Weekend Today
Hosts: Richard Wilkins and Sylvia Jeffreys
News: Jayne Azzopardi
Sports: Rebecca Maddern
Weather: Lauren Phillips

News and sports are combined during the week with a focus on ‘Sports news’, whilst weekends are more specialised with sports being given more in-depth coverage on the big matches and reviews.

I’d do this:

Today
Karl Stefanovic & Allison Langdon
News & Sport: Alex Cullen
Weather: Tim Davies
Entertainment: Brooke Boney

Today Extra
David Campbell & Belinda Russell

Weekend Today
Richard Wilkins & Sylvia Jeffreys
News & Sport: Jayne Azzopardi
Weather: Lauren Phillips

Could Bec stay in Melbourne and present the Afternoon News when Alicia is not in?

I’m curious about Dickie - Are you suggesting leaving him as weekend host because he’s good in the role, or because you’re trying to make sure no one loses a job in the shuffling?

Personally I’d give him a role doing the big entertainment stuff across all programs / days but put someone else (anyone) on the host role.

I agree with that but you’re also right with the second part of your first point. I find him to be a below average host for Weekend Today but it wouldn’t be beneficial for the Today brand to have yet another major reshuffle. I’d prefer Charles Croucher or Tom Steinfort (or a female double header) for Weekend Today but at least the rest of the current team seem to be fairly likeable so I would keep it there for stability’s sake.

Sunrise, whilst Eddy is on maternity leave

Option 1:
Kendall Gilding temporarily relocates to Sydney to read the news on Sunrise.
(A combination of Joel Dry and Katrina Blowers cover Kendall on Queensland’s 4pm bulletin.)

Option 2:
Monique Wright reads the news on Sunrise.
Sally Bowrey shifts across the desk on weekends to host with Matt.
Chris Reason reads the news on weekends.

I didn’t consider Angie Asimus because I think it’s important she stays on Seven News Sydney, as the bulletin is just starting to make inroads on Nine. Too risky to make a change.

I reckon Monique and Matt should share news whilst Eddy is on parental leave.

Matt Monday and Tuesday and hosting Friday and Monique Wednesday to Friday.

Not a bad idea but I think it’s important to have only one newsreader. Too messy to have two people sharing the role.
