Why the Sunday to Thursday?
Melbourne is Monday to Friday.
Teams aren’t bad though.

The concept could be good - I like that you’ve included Mike for this program, but how would the execution go? I’m not sure how many stories there’ll be to investigate for each state…
Sydney is usually Sunday to Thursday I’m pretty sure, and Melbourne just usually follows that (during the AFL season, at least). Most other states seem to stick to a traditional Monday to Friday.
I thought they had changed to Sun-Thu. Their Twitter bio reflects this.
Currently Melbourne is Sunday to Thursday because it’s the AFL Season, with the Sunday Afternoon AFL game leading into the 6pm news.
Ah ok.
I like this. But I’d probably make a few adjustments:
David Brown to weekday weather would be preferable. He is miles ahead of Jane Bunn and would be the perfect addition (returnee is probably more accurate) to the team. Jane moves to weekends and national weather forecasts.
I’d probably put keep Mike Amor on weekends as he’s probably more established than Tim McMillan. But I’d probably add Blake Johnson to the afternoon news along with Emily with Laurel Irving being the main fill-in. Otherwise everything looks pretty good.
Melburnians will give you a hard time if you got David to replace Jane. Jane’s like a celebrity down here!
Personally I prefer Jane over David, simply because Jane is both a meteorologist and a brilliant presenter, whereas IMO David, yes he’s a meteorologist, but he’s not a very good presenter. I found David to stumble over his words occasionally.
If I was the Director of News at Seven News Sydney, here is what I would be looking at doing to make my station Number 1.
6pm News
Monday to Friday
News: Mark Ferguson
Sport: Cameron Williams
Weather: Sally Bowrey
Saturday to Sunday
News: Georgie Gardner
Sport: Matt Carmichael
Weather: Samantha Brett
New 7pm national current affairs show
Peter Overton
4pm News (goes national to save costs)
News: Sally Bowrey
Sport: Cameron Williams
Weather: Jane Bunn (from Melbourne)
Elsewhere, Angie Asimus is appointed newsreader on Sunrise, as I would be making Edwina Bartholomew the new “Sonia Kruger”, who hosts 99.9% of the reality shows on the network. (I’ve always preferred Eddy hosting as opposed to news reading).
3 presenters from Nine, will be too hard to get, especially Pete.
Mock
Oh yes, of course, it would be very hard to achieve.
But could you imagine if Seven poached Nine’s 6pm newsreaders? It would be huge and almost destroy Nine News Sydney.
Sounds like an incredibly wild fantasy to me. Pete seems rather loyal to Nine and while GG & Cam worked for Seven in the past (not at the same time though AFAIK), both have been associated with TCN for so long now that we’ll probably see them remain there until retirement.
While this probably won’t happen anytime soon either, I think we’d be far more likely to see Seven News attempt to poach largely underappreciated Nine talent like Deborah Knight, Jayne Azzopardi & Sophie Walsh.
Remember how they poached Michael Usher from Nine?
Who was mainly a reporter for 60 Minutes before leaving.
On the Sydney 6pm news presenter ladder, Usher would’ve been no higher than 4th in-line behind Pete, GG & Deb before his mid-2016 defection to Seven.
Nine Entertainment Co., in say four to five years time
3AW Roster
Breakfast - Tom & Elise Elliott (husband and wife duo)
Mornings - Tony Jones
Afternoons - Dee Dee Dunleavy
Drive - TBA
Nights - Denis Walter
Nine News Melbourne
Sunday to Thursday - Alicia Loxley
Friday to Saturday - Brett McLeod
Previously I’ve said that Tony Jones should replace Peter Hitchener on Nine News Melbourne, but now I think that if Tony wants to make the switch to “news” as opposed to “sport”, then he’s more suited to talk-back. He does a great job filling in for Neil Mitchell on 3AW.
Russel Howcroft for drive.
Channel 9
When Brett McLeod leaves Melbourne to become Europe Correspondent, Rebecca Maddern should replace him as a senior reporter in Melbourne.
Therefore, Sylvia Jeffreys can be appointed host of Weekend Today (removing the need for a split screen setup of Bec and Dickie if there are border closures). Sophie Walsh can read the news until Jayne Azzopardi returns from maternity leave.
Belinda Russell would continue permanently on Today Extra, and Natalia Cooper continues permanently presenting the weather on Nine News Sydney on Fridays and Saturdays.
Meanwhile in Melbourne, Jo Hall can replace Brett McLeod in presenting the Afternoon News from Wednesday to Friday every second week (alternating with Dougal Beaty).

They don’t do that. Haven’t you watched WT since Sydney’s lockdown?

Yes. I am well aware of that.
I’m suggesting they remove Bec from WT because it removes the need from doing it again if the border closure is here to stay for a while and if she is not satisfied with not being the host.
