Probably just shows how private he was, in that no one seems to know much about him. A bit like the Wayne Bennett of radio, just not as successful!
He lived the dream so many of us have had (having a ‘train set’ of radio stations to play with). He might have run things on an oily rag but many of his stations certainly still have character, pretty unique in today’s ultra-polished networked world.
