MasterChef Australia

Yep. Ben, Chloe and Reece are definitely their favourites. How many times has Chloe improvised and got through and then Ben did it last night. At least Samira made the proper elements.

Samira just wasn’t a big enough of a personality to go through to finals week unfortunately and didnt’ have much of a story. She was a quiet achiever but for me the most likeable person there.

I find there are just so many hit and miss contestants this season, namely Jess, Ben, Chloe and Khanh (although Khanh has imporved a lot). Reece and Sashi probably deserve to be the top 2 out of the remaining as they have been the most consistant but I’m not a big fan of either of them to be honest. It just annoys me some of the people that are left when we’ve lost really strong cooks like Hoda, Sarah and Samira just to name a few.

But she’s from Azerbaijan… I think?

Kahn is friends with Neighbours actors, so…

Well he was a pretty in demand DJ on the Melbourne club scene prior to Masterchef which is probably how he knows them. He used to regularly play at some of Melb’s high end clubs like Bond, Club 23, The Emerson etc,

I don’t understand why this week is called finals week but isn’t the show finishing on July 30th?

Finals week is actually next week.

I just learned TVNZ One had just started showing MasterChef on Wednesday nights as well, so it is on three nights a week now (Wednesday-Friday). They are now up to Nigella Lawson week.

Nobody ever referred to this week as finals week. They have only said that certain people could be fast tracked to finals week if they won certain challenges. Finals week is next week.

Well with Reece going last night I would say that Sashi would have to be the clear front runner to win this competition. I’m not sure how Ben is still there to be honest and Chloe has been quite hit and miss. Jess seems to be the underdog who keeps on giving so it wouldn’t surprise me if she’s up there with Sashi in the final two. Otherwise Khanh seems to have become a contender as well right at the pointy end of this competition. I noticed he was back to DJing last night at Fabrique nightclub so not sure if that’s an indication that he doesn’t win.

Such a shame Reece went, IMO he was one of the best cooks left. How Ben and Chloe are still there is a mystery to me. Khanh is now my favourite to win. I like Jess but she specializes too much in desserts and seems to “panic” when she has to cook savoury dishes.

I think Sashi will win.

Caught up from a week behind. I’m surprised no one commented on Chloe totally wasting her hard-fought super power on Sunday in the Vue de monde cook, using it at the first opportunity and in a non-elimination cook. She had nothing to lose by having her dish tasted.

P.S. Khanh was insufferable in that cook.

If Chloe had her dish tasted and the judges found faults with her dish, she would have gone into the pressure test where she would have to use her super power to avoid elimination.

Exactly… “IF”! There was a chance the judges wouldn’t have put her in the bottom 3, therefore saving her superpower. If they did put her in the pressure test, then she could have used in then… nothing lost.

Or not if she had a good cook and could see that someone else didn’t. In any case, why not wait till you know you need it? She spent about four episodes earning that thing and used it up before she needed to.

I’m annoyed that Gary made such a show of inviting her to decide, as though that was a reasonable time she might use it. He must have known it was nuts to use it.

Did Sashi peak too early in the comp? He didn’t do well tonight and the promo for tomorrow doesn’t look encouraging.

Ten usually does those promos to throw people off. I think Chloe will go tomorrow night.

In previous years Ben would have been absolutely crucified for dishing up pressure cooked ribs in finals week because they were too simplistic for this stage of the competition. The judges usually harp on about not playing it safe, innovation, creativity, technique etc etc. The ‘wow’ dishes have been few and far between compared to what Reynold, Billie, Elena, Matt, Adam and co have produced over the years.Jess got her balance wrong but at least she was innovative and showed some excellent technique.

It can go either way. It’s not uncommon that they make it look like a contestant is going to go that isn’t especially when they are a front runner. Although the week that Samira left I was certain she was safe because they showed comments from her saying it was Game over for her. I thought that was too obvious but she still left.

I actually would be OK with Sashi going tonight. It would at least make the final 4 a bit more unpredictable. Even though he seems to be the most deserving at this point I’m not really a fan of Sashi’s general style of cooking and it just feels like he has been set up to win for a while now. I would rather see Khanh or Jess win as they have both improved and grown a lot more.

Khanh or Jess for me too.
