MasterChef Australia

And the airline they used too

I thought this would be a requirement to go on the show. Even Josh Pezza went to Hong Kong despite never travelling overseas, so he probably applied for a passport through the application process.

The overseas trips are great and break up the season a bit. It’s always been a part of the show right back to the beginning (they just scrapped it in some recent seasons). I wouldn’t want them to not do it just because a contestant isn’t able to travel. Lots of shows require overseas travel.

Even though tonight’s food stall challenge took place at Stanley Street in Central, the scene where the judges got off the tram and met the contestants was actually filmed at Chun Yeung Street in North Point, on the north east side of Hong Kong Island, as shown in this promo photo on the show’s Instagram.

Stanley Street is a 5-minute walk up the hill from the buzzing financial district of Central, and it takes 10-15 minutes to drive from North Point to Stanley Street, depending on traffic conditions.

It was announced via an on-screen promo tonight that this season’s winner would be the mystery chef cooking at Alumni Restaurant at Crown Melbourne for the final, 3-week residency from mid July to August 4.

This may indicate MasterChef grand final will be shown on July 9. If that is true, then finals week should start next Monday.

Sav returned to the competition in tonight’s lucky dip ingredient pairing challenge, for her only shot for immunity. Andy said it was sad for her not able to go to Hong Kong, and Sav replied “it is what it is”.

Is that the second time Sav has been let back into the competition?!

She was only eliminated once

And this time she just didn’t appear in several challenges but gets to stay in the competition anyway? Seems fair… NOT!

Did anyone get eliminated in the challenges she missed?

That’s happened to many people this season. If they missed any challenges which were for elimination then the people who missed was immediately put into the elimination

In this case, it was all for immunity from elimination. So there is no reason for her to be eliminated or be automatically put in to the elimination challenge

Promo aired tonight during NCIS: Sydney says finals week starts next Monday, with Guillaume Brahimi as guest chef.

No one got eliminated in the Hong Kong challenges.

Then there’s no problem here. Makes no difference if she was there or not then.

Personally I miss the Invention test and wish they would do it more (maybe cycle it every second week with the mystery box). It forced the contestants to be more creative. In recent seasons we’ve seen some contestants being able to constantly stick too much to their lane. It was good to see Sav do something quite different last night and it paid off.

The dish for tonight’s pressure test was royale of peas with a consomme of crab, fried mussels, caviar and mayonnaise.

Guest chef Guillaume Brahimi said this dish would be available at his Bistro Guillaume in Crown Melbourne and Perth for a limited time.

I don’t watch the episode when the contestants say who they’re cooking for ,a close family member, spouse, etc ,it’s just overkill. I did see the beginning of the latest episode and judge Andy’s tribute to his late best mate and fellow judge Jock was very emotional :smiling_face_with_tear:
