Archie Thompson is a football legend played for the Melbourne Victory and Nick Riewoldt played for St Kilda and is now a Fox Footy commentator.
We all have our own idea of celebrity. I have no idea who Nick is! I reckon it depends on age, the state we live in and personal interests.
I would pick Rebecca, Ian and Collette.
Yet I will watch Celebrity MasterChef so they will all become a little more like a celebrity to me by the time it’s over.
I would love to know how much they are each getting paid. That would sort out the celebrities from the riff-raff.
Thanks, I was just curious who your third one was, as I agree with your opinion about varying definitions of celebrity, and it annoys me when there are the constant complaints about this or that person/contestant not being famous enough - to that commentator.
I would not have picked Collette Dinnigan from her picture, much like Camilla Franks on Celebrity Apprentice. I know their work and recognise them but wouldn’t have been able to name them but they are definitely celebrities in my mind.
I don’t have a huge interest in sport and live in NSW, so Nick Riewoldt is an odd one to me that I actually knew who he was, but Archie Thompson unfortunately I have no idea about but in the Football world he probably is a huge star.
As a cast, I would definitely label this one as a Celebrity cast (naturally Tilly Ramsay is the outlier) and I am looking forward to the show as long as it is only for a few weeks.
He holds the record (likely never to be broken) for the most goals in an international match: 13 against American Samoa in 2001 (part of a greater 31-0 victory, a record in itself).
This is it. If you follow any of these sports these are huge names but if you aren’t a sports fan they may mean nothing to you. The fact is though that sport is big in Australia so these people do pull an audience and sports stars often do very well on public voted celeb shows (like I’m a Celeb).
When casting these shows they would be trying to get a balance of people from different fields so that there are names in there that are of interest to people. We have some very big sports stars, well known actors, comedians, musician, radio host, TV presenters, fashion designer. I think it covers a lot of angles and the sort of names that you would want on a show like this.
I’d consider Rebecca, Ian, Dami, Dilruk, Archie and Chrissie as celebrities, so not a bad list overall.
Yes, actual celebrities relevant to Australians unlike those cast on BB VIP.
But apparently Seven thinks those ‘VIPs’ are even more important ![]()
Celebrity Masterchef is sounding good on paper but it seems there’s a chance that its ratings might be average if Junior Masterchef was anything to go by.
Not Nick? There isn’t many people who wouldn’t know who he is, especially if they are an AFL fan. He is still on air every weekend covering AFL.
Yeah, you can’t consider Archie more of a celebrity than Nick.
Collette Dinnigan is on the cover of Sunday Life magazine inside Sunday Age and The Sun-Herald today.
In the Q&A, she explained why she joined Celebrity MasterChef.
I actually said no a few times before I said yes. I have been told I am a good cook and I love cooking for friends and family. My passion is food and when I gave it further thought, I figured I had nothing to lose. So I decided to put myself out of my comfort zone and go for it. As you get older, you don’t put yourself out there, you become more discreet about decisions and don’t take as many risks. I decided to change it up.
