MasterChef Australia

There’s a chance she might get back in, if this year included a round where eliminated contestants are given a second chance in a cook-off.

I thought the same last night that they may do it this year (even if not initially planned) as we’ve had a couple of early front runners go early.

I really want to know what went through her head, I guess it is easy for us to sit and judge from the comfort of the couch but her mistakes on the dish were so obvious and with only 4 in the elimination the odds were stacked against her.

I feel for any contestant who is eliminated while possessing an immunity pin.Why didn’t she use it when she knew she’d stuffed up in her cook?
Brent continues to surprise me with how well he is cooking,he’s a real character ,also a typical tradie ,I can picture him in a hi viz shirt and steel capped boots

Anyone watching tonight? Is the audit cutting in and out?

The audio is working fine for me in Melbourne.

It’s the first time this season a cooking challenge was filmed at night.

No issues in Queensland.

Weird. I’m in Melbourne too and it’s cutting in and out. It was doing it during The Project too. I asked on Twitter and quite a few people are experiencing it. As long as it’s not my tv / Sonos!!

Hmmm who could that be?

Nice to see service challenge return for this season after it was paused in March 2020 due to COVID. The 16 contestants would be divided into four teams, each teams facing chefs from a Melbourne restaurant. Each team would be serving 20 diners plus the three judges.

Tonight it’s Adam D’Sylva and his restaurant Tonka.

Tuesday it’s at MoVida Aqui led by its owner Frank Comorra.
Wednesday it’s back to the MC kitchen, up against the team from Lucy Liu restaurant and bar.
Thursday the four remaining contestants would cook at Stokehouse restaurant.

I don’t think it’s been mentioned anywhere yet (I had a quick search and didn’t see anything) but there’s a casting notice up for the show for next year.

Celebrity MasterChef will be on Ten before the end of this year, The Australian is reporting, with Lara Bingle and Julie Bishop supposedly on the producers ‘wish-list’.

10 clearly still haven’t learnt about the perils of overexposing a reliable format.

Can’t wait for there to be 6 contestants in the running: Chris Brown, Julia Morris, Grant Denyer, Amanda Keller, Osher Gunsberg and Beau Ryan.

Given how MasterChef is performing now, if I was Bev I’d be pulling the pin on this idea now.

Take a risk on something (not Making It) that could be the next big thing to follow on from MasterChef.

Two spin-off’s from the main franchise in 2 years is just too much, given the circumstances last year the one extra series was kind of understandable.

This format is nearing the end of its life cycle (Bev’s favourite buzz word), so it should be used sparingly.

This seems like uninspiring and lazy commissioning to me, something new is needed.

Will be ok if they do a compressed series in. 2 weeks like DWTS. Actually is a smart way to get the most out of their licence and contracts with talent. But not if they do a long winded full blown series

I think MC is far from the end of the life cycle. The regular format can go to 20 seasons.
Looking forward to Celebrity MasterChef later this year.

I actually think Celebrity Masterchef could do ok compared to the current season. Last seasons success showed that viewers need something to lure them in other than just going with a complete new batch of contestants in the same old (or similar) format. Plus we definitely don’t need a kids version again.

I’m not sure what it is about this season but I’m struggling to connect with the contestants. I am finding with this current cast there aren’t a lot of people that I really like or care about. There were some contestants that I really liked earlier in the season (like Wynona, Conor and Therese) but they are gone. I was watching last nights elimination and thinking that I didn’t really care who left of the ones that were up.
