Yeah I am not watching that final as I don’t care for either one.
Wonder how that elimination tonight will affect the finale ratings as people don’t seem to be a fan of either of the 2 contestants in the final. A lot of people also saying they won’t be watching tomorrow.
Thank god he went. Hope Emilia wins.

Are you just saying that just because of the comments he made on a forum 6 years ago? Because on technique alone he is better than the other 2. And I think ratings for the final would be higher if he was in it instead of Laura.
No. I’m saying it because I prefer Emilia and Laura. Wasn’t a fan of Laura in the beginning but she grew on me, and I’ve been watching some of her Insta stories and enjoy her recipes. I think she’s earned her spot. Reynold is a one trick pony and was always going to fail when he had to follow a recipe.
His comments previously just add to the bonus. Not to mention he couldn’t even be humble enough to congratulate the girls.

He should have left a few weeks earlier. Glad the slate is now back to normal. See who is best tonight. Just unfortunate Poh couldn’t make it, but that is what happens in an equal high level competition, you have to be on your best game for as much of the time as possible.
I’d take some of the comments about contestant likability with a grain of salt. If you have watched from the start all the way to the semi-final, it makes no sense not to watch the finale. See not just who wins but how they do it. Both remaining deserve respect for making it all the way, especially in a ‘best of the best’ setting (I know it is not exactly this, but it is the best Ten/Endemol could do).

When Reynold revealed the mistakes he had made during his narration for the pressure test, I knew he was in danger. Sometimes, it’s better not to deviate from the given recipe.
Reynold was the best and I was so sad to see him go. I definitely got very emotional through all that. This season has really tugged at the heart strings.
I think that’s a bit harsh. Reynold was devastated in that moment. He was there to support Laura during the challenge when she was struggling. I personally thought that Emelia was more out of place with a big smile on her face when Reynold was eliminated (because her “bestie” made the finale.). Laura was much more humble and looked devastated for Reynold.
I really hope that Laura wins. To make the finale 2/2 seasons is a massive effort.

I did see his big Insta post congratulating them last night. I dunno, just in that moment I was taken aback. It was very emotional tho. Even I felt it whilst being happy with the outcome.
Mixed emotions were going through everyone. It was a tense moment.
I do admit it would have been wrong for Emelia to have a smile at the time, but I do assume she genuinely felt sad for Reynold as Laura did. And I do see that Reynold did feel proud for them.
It’s just times like this when it’s all hard on them and they do struggle at times.

I don’t get that… you’ve watched a show for the past 60 episodes and 12+ weeks it has been on and you decide you’re not going to spend an extra 90 mins watching the final episode?!
I mean, my favourites were Poh, Kahn and Reece who were all eliminated yet I still can’t wait for the finale tonight.

I just can’t get excited for a finale when I don’t care about the result. With Laura in the final against Emelia, it’s safe to say Emelia will win. A final with Reynold and Emelia would have been much more competitive. It was the same with The Amazing Race Australia finale last year for me. I didnt care for the 3 teams in the finale so didn’t watch and just looked up who won.
My opinion changed of Reynold when i saw those comments, much more likely to believe his real personality matches the person he is on a forum than in an edited reality show. And after that, even on tv, started to notice his arrogant side a lot more.
I don’t think “6 years ago” is any excuse, that was 2014, not 1914, and 21 years old is old enough to know better.

So you don’t think people deserve a 2nd chance? And those kinds of comments are still around today, people have not evolved that much.

your second sentence answers the question. I don’t think people can change that much is such a short period, and even if they did, content on a reality show is not going to be what convinces me. If we were talking about comments from 40 years ago it might be different.
2014, in the leadup to Tony Abbott’s knifing was a peak period for awareness for LGBT issues in Australia (i think awareness has declined since the plebiscite). If that was Reynolds attitude then, I wouldn’t trust that anything has changed now.
Melissa Leong took a dig at MasterChef contestants saying they will go back to 2nd hand car sales and that going on MasterChef is the biggest mistake a chef can make. Now she’s a judge on a show and says that her opinion has completely changed on that. I don’t think that changes her ability to judge. These are all random throwaway comments made on social media many years ago. I’m a gay male and I couldn’t care less about Reynold’s comments if he says that he no longer stands by them and has apologised. He was quite young and people change, learn and grow.

One is an opinion of a tv show, which can change easily, the other is multiple hateful comments towards a minority group. hardly an apples to apples comparison. If if there was history of racist/homophobic rants from Melissa I would be just as critical, just as if Reynold went on an anti-MC rant, i wouldn’t hold him to it.
no one makes multiple hate-charged comments over a period of time if they are not seeded in a real attitude, I don’t think it can be sugarcoated as “throwaway comments”.
