MasterChef Australia

Oh and interesting to note that Marco seemed to only ever shout and go crazy at the male contestants tonight, while we had numerous shots of him laughing, joking or talking calmly to the females.

I notice the same thing with Gary. Always especially nasty to the males. And over the top cute with the females.

Really enjoyed tonight’s ep, maybe more so because it was freezing in Melbourne & I was hungry.

Anyway none the less, probably the best team challenge I’ve seen in a long time

All credit to the red team, deserved.

I agree with Matt & George’s ultimate decision, those prawns (actually the first dish presented) looked like an amazing entree.

Looked like prawns that had been chucked on a grill to me.

Did they enjoy the premium seafood that they like to eat? Or did they enjoy the special technique that had been applied to them?

So often viewers, and the judges, confuse the two.

I agree the prawns looked yummy to me even though I don’t eat any seafood apart from fish

LOVED the episode!! Marco screaming “Where’s my king fish!!!” was hilarious.

I think it was more the case that it was pretty even. 1 winning dish from each team and and the dessert’s were a tie. So it came down to them each picking their favourite dish of the day and which ever team had more votes for best dish won. They need to split it somehow when it’s close. No matter how they do it people are going to whinge either way when it’s close.

Turdall suggests in the Gogglebox thread that MasterClasses should be shown at 6.30pm Sundays instead of after Thursday’s elimination, so viewers won’t have to wait for Gogglebox. But paired with the regular mystery box and invention test episode, MasterChef will run for more than 2.5 hours on Sundays including ads, which may be too long for even dedicated fans. How about this idea: show MasterClass from 6.30pm to 7pm, then mystery box and invention test from 7pm to 8.30pm?
If MasterClass were to return to Fridays however, it will take the 8.30pm timeslot pushing back The Graham Norton Show to 9.30pm, which will make fans of that program unhappy either. Ten has to think very carefully when to schedule MasterClass next year.
At the end of tonight’s elimination, George told contestants the MasterClass was coming up “right now” then sent them on their way. It was odd, because I was sure the MasterClass (which took place at the magnificent Werribee Park) was not recorded on the same day as elimination.

Really? That’s my whole point. It seemed very clear one was more a complete, technical dish. You know
being MasterChef and all.

As for tonight’s ep
ridiculous.

Firstly, the 4th guy to enter the final cook-off shouldn’t have been there. EACH person left after the first round of alphabet ingredients were exhausted should have been forced to pick something. That’s generally how a fair competition is conducted.

And with some ridiculously hard ingredients in the first round, and some very easy ones, it’ just became a case of random luck. No skill required.

As for Adam going home over Cecilia
outrageous. In an hour she produced a piece of seared tuna in the last two minutes. With an eggy mayonaise. How disgusting would that have tasted?

I could tell Adam was going as soon as they all attacked his dish, and Matt was forced to step in and say he was judging Adam only based on what was in front of him (ie, no bullshit about Cecilia crying after Marco went over to encourage her in the last 5 minutes of the show to plate something because they would definitely keep her no matter what for her tears, and no hang-up hatred of Adam over being one of the final guys to scrape into the final 24).

For the perceptive among us, Matt is definitely pushing the others a little this season. It wasn’t his only sharp comment tonight either.

2 and a half hours is a long time but it was still 2 and a bit hours on Thursday night.

I think Fridays 8:30 could work as well. It would provide some much needed viewers to their Friday night schedule. Perhaps they could move graham Norton to saturdays

The last time that they did Masterclass on their own night they rated really badly. People don’t seem to tune in to just a Masterclass anymore but if they run off the back of a normal episode they do well as the viewers are already there. Given there are only about 4 Masterclasses this season it makes sense to run it off the Thursday episode. Sunday 6.30 or Friday night on the odd week would disrupt schedules even more and the episode probably wouldn’t do well there anyway.

I liked the location of where they had the Masterclass, can anyone on here who is in Melbourne tell me exactly where it is please?

Werribee Park in the city’s outer west, right outside the famous mansion.

Thanks for that

What a chance Zoe missed to get an immunity pin. She caught a guest chef getting only 25/40 but she messed up her dish.

Cecelia should have gone home. She hardly did anything and had a bad mistake as well. But she is good for the show and Adam is a nobody.

For the second year running the male contestants are dropping like flies, The first three gone were all males and there are only 8 left, while all 13 females remain. Not that I mind.

They are dropping because of the all male judging panel :stuck_out_tongue:

I and I know many others love MasterClass, worked last year didn’t it?

It’s just that Gogglebox has a big loyal following (including me) & nobody wants to wait until 9:30pm

I say just leave the scheduling where it is & heavily promote the shows, especially Gogglebox.

MasterClass only airs a handful of times anyway.

Get Anastacia & Faye (from Gogglebox) on The Project on a Thursday or something

I’m not a fan of the Masterclass episodes pushing gogglebox back. But lets be honest it isn’t really going to affect ten or gogglebox that much. I can guarantee it will get massive timeshifting figures this week. And ten wouldn’t care too much because it will be racking in a profit no matter where it is airing.

Well done to Karmen & Anastacia
Really shone

That’s what happens when people like Adam go home over Cecilia. Even though it is glaringly obvious she should have been eliminated instead.

I commented last week on how Marco and Gary in particular seem to treat the male and female contestants differently. Therefore, I’m not surprised that the contestant pool quickly becomes female skewed.
