MasterChef Australia

For some odd reason weren’t immunity challenge episode generally the higher rating episode of the week of Masterchef? I find it always did its best on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Watched for the first time since the first episode last night. Wasn’t a big fan of the elimination challenge. Marco is gold though.

That’s a bit extreme. But yes, I’d love Gary axed from this show.

I thought Con would be eliminated because he fell behind, lucky he cooked his fish perfectly, poor guy cut his finger,I found myself going 'ouch ’ just watching. Its a hazard when they’re cooking at that pace ,cutting their fingers with a knife or getting burned.Cecelia is one to watch ,she did very well in the elimination challenge, she’s making the most of her second chance in the competition.

Tomorrow night’s team challenge was filmed at Footscray’s Plough Hotel in November last year. If you live in Melbourne, have you tried the food at the restaurant there?
The guest chef on tonight’s immunity challenge was Jake Kellie. When he competed he was representing Estelle. But in January this year he quit Estelle to join the Lakeside Mill in Pakenham in Melbourne’s outer south east.
Great episode tonight, it was odd that both dishes in the immunity challenge got low scores. Zoe’s creme brulee was let down by the melting in the final seconds of cooking. Jake Kellie’s carpaccio covering vegetables was ambitious to say the least, but did not impress the judges except George.

Much better episode tonight.

Nigella Lawson appears real soon on MasterChef.

Thanks for narrowing that down.

Oh thanks for letting us know, most of us musn’t have had any idea that she was coming given she was only in every pre-season preview… :joy:

I’m guessing she is probably the week after next.

Matt Preston mentioned he spent a few weeks with her. Will she do a whole week on the show?

Yes Nigella filmed a whole week of episodes on the show but it took about 10 days, before her book tour in January this year. Go to the start of this thread and you will find comments on Nigella’s visit.

All good. That’s all I wanted to know.

Tonight’s episode at Footscray’s Plough Hotel was filmed on December 2 last year, according to a cryptic message on the venue’s Facebook page the day before:

The Plough Hotel will be closed all day tomorrow for some exciting filming - more info to follow!

That means next week’s episodes were filmed in the second and third week of December, before the Christmas/New Year break and Nigella’s appearance.

Yep which is why I think Nigella is the week after next. Then the Chinese New Year challenge that I participated in is probably a couple weeks after that (I remember counting about ~7 contestants on each of the teams).

Can’t wait for tonight’s service challenge, Marco every year:

“WHERE’S MY QUAIL… WHERE’S MY FISH… WHERE’S MY BEEF…” :stuck_out_tongue:

It was a topsy-turvy team challenge tonight. Both teams had three hours to prepare the courses, but red team had a head start of nearly 30 minutes while blue team was still discussing what to cook for entree. When blue team decided on a prawn entree and looked for the main ingredient in the cool room, the prawns were already gone  I think that was the main reason blue team lost tonight. But red team did not go unscathed: why did Brett decide to trim all the fat from the beef sirloin just for ease of cooking?

Seemed like the judge’s Con-hatred meant that the blue team lost tonight.

Apparently all even after entrée and main. Yet red team comes out with a brownie for dessert, and Con’s blue team with a technical and multi-element panna cotta, and then blue loses?

How can blue lose after winning 2 out of 3 challenges, because Gary and George preferred Red’s entrée prawns?
