I reckon elements of pressure test and/or team challenge would be included in the elimination challenge, as seen in last night’s episode.

Today’s The Guide in SMH has an extensive article on MasterChef, including the arduous process of developing cooking tasks for contestants.

Oh come on. If they judges saved Laura last night from the challenge people would have said the exact same thing. The meat might have been a bit dry in Brendan and Poh’s dish but it was otherwise good. The Indian dish was clearly weaker.

So it looks like they changed the format up to fit 3 days a week. Notice that last nights elimination started with a team challenge. I’m assuming we won’t get many more of them (given its harder for them to do them with restrictions).

After the top eight contestants entered the kitchen in tonight’s episode, Jock told them there would be no more team challenges, instead there would be only three challenges per week: mystery box, immunity challenge, and all-in elimination.
I think tonight’s mystery box was the first time in the show’s history that it began after dark. Usually cooking challenges begin in mid-morning.

I wonder when these episodes were filmed. It feels like they’ve had a slight filming break (not that the contestants wouldn’t have been able to do much) and in that time they decided the 3 nights and change of format. Maybe we are up to early May now.

I wonder if they’re trying to film two eps a day. I’ve always thought that’d be very possible - eg. coz easily film mystery box and immunity back to back.

These episodes were filmed in April, after Easter. Back on May 7, the Daily Mail revealed the top six shared photos of themselves in isolation in the final weekend of April.

With only three challenges per week, I wonder if overseas broadcasters will have to follow suit by just showing three episodes per week in the latter stage of the season.

OK so this is possibly after an Easter break and when it started airing on TV. There was prob a decision with it on air then to stretch it out incase filming got halted or more restrictions came in. Yet turns out they got most of the filming (at least up to F4) done by around the end of May.

I don’t think so cos there’s at least a good month of filming timeframes left before they get to F4. If anything things seem to be stretched more across multiple days or there are days breaks in filming a week (possibly when they do commentary etc).

I guess tonight the Gold challenge just suited night. Sparklers, glowing boxes etc. Maybe filming schedule has changed and we will see more at night. Who knows. It doesn’t make much of a difference anyway.

Enjoyed the outdoor Street food challenge,a change for them instead of cooking inside

Highly unlikely. I have read in the past it takes between 8-12hrs to film one episode which the contestants are exhausted after. They’re on their feet the whole time, under enormous pressure.

Is it a Tick Tock challenge or a Tik Tok challenge. Which one is it

I hope Tessa wins immunity tonight. I feel like she’s been very underrated and put in the middle of the pack this season and not really been given a shot. To me she’s better than Brendan who I find quite repetitive and average but will probably keep slipping through. The other night he looked like he didn’t even know what Mexican food was.

@DD_Gaming Do you get the joke?

Melissa also featured on The Weekend Australian magazine last Saturday.

In other news, the current season premieres on TVNZ2 in New Zealand on Sunday, June 28, and will air on Sunday to Wednesday nights like 10.

“comments on current season” vs “Matt Preston says he’s not watching”.
Another clickbait headline from News Corp.

So he has no comments worth anything then (not that I thought disgruntled former judges who wanted more money, was likely to say anything worth hearing/reading).

Synopses for next week’s episodes have finally been revealed.

Sunday 21 June
Tonight’s elimination will take place over two rounds, the first of which is the classic blind taste test. The first four contestants who guess incorrectly will go into round two.

Monday 22 June
The judges reveal that today contestants need to use ALL the ingredients in their mystery box to create two dishes - a sweet and savoury dish in 75 minutes.

Tuesday 23 June
Three heavy hitters of the competition go head to head. Who will make top 6?

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced this afternoon that, due to recent spike in coronavirus cases in Melbourne, cafes and restaurants would have to continue to only serve 20 customers until July 12. I wonder how will this affect the filming of the grand final of the current season? The show took a filming break after the top four was decided last month, and the plan was to film a service challenge as part of semi final or grand final as early as next week under the previous plan, which would have seen 50 people allowed in restaurants at a time effective from June 22.
Now it looks like the service challenge will have to be ruled out as the public won’t be allowed to dine in the MC kitchen in the latest restrictions, thus the finals will be cooking challenges among the four remaining contestants only.
Under the current broadcast schedule, the top four will be revealed in the elimination challenge on July 12, with the semi final and grand final expected to follow.
