I don’t think Sarah (as in Tasmanian Sarah) she has been that great this season. She’s been very middle of the pack for the most part. Hayden is very hit and miss but for me his style of food and cooking is my type of food so I enjoy watching him. Plus he’s a very likeable guy.
I find some people like Brendan, Sarah Tiong and Laura too repetitive because they keep coking the same type of foods. Sarah T constantly cooking Asian dishes, Laura pasta dishes and Brendan doing dumplings or wontons etc is getting so repetitive. They are good cooks at what they do but they need to show that they are a bit more versatile IMO.
Reynold definitely seems to be one of the most improved this season. His downfall last time was his inability to do savoury dishes but he’s been excelling at them this time which makes him one of the strongest competitors.
I find Simon to be quite repetitive as well, he always seem to cook grilled vegetable dishes and wasn’t exactly a risk taker in most of his cooking. Having said that it was quite nice to see him cook a French fish dish last night and doing quite well.
Others like Poh, Emelia, Amina (before she was eliminated), Jess and Reynold on the other hand are pretty adventurous in their cooking and are the standouts of the competition.
Jo Barrett and Matt Stone from Oakridge Wines are mentors in tonight’s service challenge, with one team making three savoury dishes, the other creating three sweet dishes. Clue: Jo is chef/baker. https://www.instagram.com/p/CATqwrNDpWK/
MasterChef’s Twitter account posted a two-minute sneak peek of pressure test this morning. As chef Peter Gunn brought in the black box dish, I notice there were only five contestants at the gantry, members of the dessert team which won last night’s service challenge. Since seven other contestants were cooking, which two were absent?
There have been people missing all season. I wonder if it’s to do with their ‘status’ and careers now and other commitments outside of the current season?
Yep it’s usually on the Thursday episodes that people in the gantry are missing. I was thinking that it may be built into some of their contracts that if an elimination or immunity cook that they are not a part of falls next to a weekend or non-shooting day that they have a couple of opportunities to take a break. Maybe for some that live in diff states it gives them a couple of days to go home. If that’s the case then I’m guessing this will change come next week where everyone will be locked down.
Whether the incident was true or not. Still doesnt look good for the so called victim nor the participant. I don’t think it will affect the show though.
It is unfortunate that an Endemol Shine spokesperson initially said that the charges against Ben quote “ personal in nature”. That made me think of drug possession charges or similar. A charge where their was no potential victim, apart from Ben.
It was unusual to see both Sarahs (Tiong and Clare) struggle during the pressure test, in particular Sarah Tiong who had been creating great dishes of late. As she fell behind in the latter stages of prep time, I thought she was gone.
I’m getting really sick of Laura’s antics. Looking at twitter during the show tonight, I’m not alone. She goes straight up to Sarah.T after pressure test and piles on questions like what’d you miss when she’s clearly upset about it. Reminds me of school when the smart kid flexes his high mark on the poor kids.
It must have been hard for the two Sarahs to pick themselves up, gather their thoughts, and come back to the kitchen the next day to recount her cooking experience. You could see the emotions on Sarah Tiong’s face during her narration.
In other news, MasterChef has made the TV demand charts for the first time.
