I was in a waiting room so couldn’t find out. Well, I could have, but I might have been escorted to the psychiatric ward if I did
SD TV’s in hotel rooms are so frustrating, last time I stayed in one, both TV’s were about as old as the one you have, so my last time watching Prime 7 was in horrible SD, the football was so unwatchable, not just because the game was one sided
Sorry @WAtvVideos
The other week I was staying in regional VIC and was disappointed to see their TV had no MPEG4 channels.
Luckily for me, it was a similar-era Panasonic Plasma TV. Did them a favour by enabling MPEG4 and re-tuning. Happy days
My parents actually have and still use that exact TV! It’s HD but not MPEG-4 compatible which is a bit annoying.
When I was staying in Coolangatta earlier this month on holidays, my hotel room got the Gold Coast channels, along with Foxtel (even know I did a very sneaky thing by plugging in my set top box into the TV to get the Lismore channels).
However, that was just my hotel room (we stayed right on the right side of the hotel, level 4). In the gym/sauna area both the Gold Coast and Lismore channels were tuned into the TV. The Lismore channels were on 5/6/8 while the Gold Coast metros were on 1/7/9. Meanwhile the Gold Coast regionals were somewhere in the 800s. That TV didn’t have Foxtel at all.
I have just done a very similar thing, plugging my set top box into the HDMI cable that is used for the DVD player here at Meriton Suites at Chatswood in Sydney. Here for 2 nights. Rabbit ears on the black chair in the pic below.
Currently watching WIN News Illawarra. Reception has been perfect, not seen a single pixelation during all of Hot Seat or the news yet.
What’s the location? Impressive to bother to relay both markets to the screens within the venue.
my guess would be somewhere like Lorne, Apollo Bay, Winchelsea, Birregurra or Colac where both Ballarat (Lorne and Apollo Bay via translators) and Melbourne signals are received.
What channels?
I had to remember but yes, Lorne
Just look a few posts above the original and you’ll see the photo of the screen. It was just showing an example of various apps you can cast from. This is a generic image that is made for the US, using a selection of US apps.
Currently in London. My Singapore airlines flight between Brisbane and changi had live BBC news, CNBC, CNN and Sport 24 (a dedicated sports channel just for airlines and cruise ships).
Sports 24 showed the Canterbury v Manly NRL game and just showed 9’s call. I might try and get a pic of the watermark if its available on one of my return flight. It is delivered via IP is not on all flights due to either not being installed or no coverage.

Well presumably that one is banned in the UK, correct?
That’s not really good enough that so many channels are “not working”…
I would have expected better from a Hilton branded hotel.
It looks they haven’t updated the system since at least 2017, because that’s when Spike rebranded to 5Spike (and then to Paramount Network … and then to 5Action).
CBBC and Cbeebies share capacity with BBC3 and 4, but all have their own EPG numbers. So before 7pm the two children’s channels should be working. I’d guess because BBC4 was working it was after 7pm. But BBC3 is missing, that only came back this year.
4music (now E4extra) switched muxes on Freeview UK in 2020 … probably why that is not working.
The rest probably cam from Astra 1. Since 2017 TVEi and Canal 24 Horas switched to Hotbird. CNBC and CCTV News (now CGTN)upgraded to HD. And yes RT was banned.
The hotel I’m staying at tonight in Toowoomba has its own bespoke LCN naming, and some oddities at that….
5 = 10 Qld
52 = 10 Peach Regional Qld
53 = 10 BOLD QLD
6 = Channel Seven
(none of the 7 multi channels have location names, they are just 7Two etc)
8 = 9 Regional Qld
81 = 9Gem Queensland
82 = 9Go! Mackay/Wide Bay (! - did this ever exist anywhere?)
20 = ABCTV HD Brisbane
So yep, all over the shop! All available multis were there.
And the cable selection is massive - looks like they have the whole FOXTEL Platinum HD package (I counted about 90 channels and they all seemed to work!). Even the 4K Movies channel worked, which is wasted on the pissy little 32 inch Linden TV they have.
Now at Caloundra, the hotel I’m at must be a WIN fan as WIN Sunshine Coast is on LCN 4 (but the multi channels are in the 8x range, go figure).
The other LCN names haven’t been updated for a long time, as ONE, ELEVEN are in the 8x range, and 9Gem, 9Go LCN are in the 5x range… the actual content on each is correct, just labelled wrongly in the LCNs (eg.5x is showing a 10 Network station, but has the LCN name from a 9 Network channel).
The hotel gets both Brisbane and Sunshine Coast stations (both presumably from Bald Knob, as it’s not possible to access manual tuning info to see what the RF frequency is).
Brisbane from Caloundra! That’s impressive.
Staying at Mantra Ettalong Beach tonight.
It’s all Sydney channels here plus 9NBN Central Coast, no 7 Regional (Prime7). WIN10 is not broadcast locally (as Bouddi is the local TX site here).
The MATV system retransmits most FTA stations in UHF61-69 range on the correct LCN channels. 7Bravo placeholder also appears on LCN 75. There’s also a handful of FOXTEL channels in the 350+ range.
