TV has one of those custom hotel room remotes, no access to any of the menu functions, no EPG.

TV only has FTA channels, generally in the right spot, but with a few oddities. None of the channels look HD, regardless of what it says.

I stayed in a Hotel in King St Melbourne a few years ago and was amazed to only see Impaja, Seven Remote and Satellite ABC/SBS on the TV. Turns out they were in a shadow from Mt Dandenong and couldn’t get TV from anywhere else like Arthurs Seat or Toorak.

Saw another centre this week, that instead of playing a movie, was playing Friends episodes, a much better solution for a waiting room or reception area - no spoilers as everyone would have seen the episodes.

And if they haven’t seen them they have had more than enough time to

This doctor’s surgery has a channel called MyDr (see watermark in top-right corner). It was showing a COVID related program when we walked in and before we got called it aired an ABC News update. Cool :sunglasses:

I saw the MyDr channel at a medical centre recently. It shows mostly medical and health news and shorts and ads for medicines.

How is everyone on board the ship? Are you in isolation?

If you have access to the internet, you can check out the daily schedule of Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra at this website (look for At Sea symbol for the right schedule).

Mate I’m on deck with a beer :beers:

I love the Aussie spirit, not so much “Keep calm and carry on “more “F*** rona, I’m getting sh**faced and eating myself silly on a cruise”.

Everyone all good. Missing the scheduled port of Moreton Island due to bad weather hampering tender operations. Going into Brisbane instead.

Below is the Sport24 schedule I forgot to upload before.

Is Nightlife Music not only used for cruises like P&O, but also other places?

I think I’ve seen it in pubs too.

Not much seems to have changed from what I remember seeing on that ship in late 2019 (while Covid was starting in China and Australia had bushfires)

Yeah the same one. The installation of it on P&O Cruise ships greeted with much fanfare. They’d just be using their HDMS server.

It was re-branded to “Nightlife Media Player” in 2016. The HDMS name is no longer in use.

Sorry only just replying now. A setup I noticed in the ship’s atrium “FOH” position is a DJ like interface on a monitor allowing for track transitions (see pics below). Also a label with “SSID atrium crowdDJ” so it looks like they may have an internet enabled crowdDJ installation.

I used to see jobs coming up for this! To be honest I never knew what it was lol. The jobs were advertised as “Tech support” working for Night Life Music. They promoted the job as The Techsuport officer that works in a nightclub.

The Observatory Hotel in Port Macquarie where I’m at tonight has THE most antiquated TV I’ve seen for years. The bezel is ginormous.

Also only does SD, no surprise there. I think it’s just straight through free to air only, meaning i can at least access manual tuning. Has Middle Brother channels only.

I saw older than this (to be fair they claimed they were mid-upgrade) at Hyatt Regency in Sydney of all places earlier this year.
