Green Machine Boxing and Bell Partners High Performance today announced an exciting new Boxing concept, Code War.

Having been involved with the three highest grossing pay per view fights ever staged in Australia, Danny Green re-enters the Boxing world as combined businessman and promoter.

This boxing spectacular will see some of Australia’s top ranked boxers vie for World Title opportunities and will also feature an incredible battle of the codes. The first of these code wars will see AFL hardman and Premiership Captain, Barry Hall, make his boxing debut when he steps into the ring against one of the NRL’s toughest, former State of Origin, Cronulla Sharks captain and now professional boxer, Paul Gallen.

Code War will be staged at Margaret Court Arena on Friday, November 15 and broadcast on Foxtel’s MAIN EVENT.

UFC 252: Miocic v Cormier 3

MAIN EVENT this Sunday, August 16 from 12pm AEST

UFC returns to Las Vegas for UFC 252, headlined by one of the biggest heavyweight title bouts in UFC history in an epic title fight trilogy when UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic steps into the Octagon against former two-division heavyweight and lightweight champion Daniel Cormier for a third time.

These two fighters have a battling history, first meeting in UFC 226 in July 2018 where Cormier, as the light heavyweight champion, returned to heavyweight claiming the title from Miocic in a thrilling first round knockout becoming a two-division champion. Their rematch at UFC 241 in August 2019 resulted in Miocic getting his revenge and reclaiming the belt with a fourth-round knockout.

With rumoured talks of Cormier to retire after his final meeting with Miocic, this long-awaited trilogy bout will determine the greatest heavyweight in MMA history.

Also on the card, another pair of heavyweights are set to square off as Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik go head-to-head.

However, the majority of eyes will be on the Bantamweight bout between Sean O’Malley and Marlon “Chito” Vera . O’Malley is coming off a sensational knockout in his return to action in June and gets a quick turnaround to impress fans once again. Vera on the other hand, despite losing a tough decision to Song Yadong in May, had won five straight fights by stoppage.

HORN v TSZYU

BIGGEST AUSTRALIAN BOXING EVENT OF THE YEAR WILL NOW BE AVAILABLE TO ALL SPORTS FANS TO STREAM ON KAYO SPORTS

Horn vs Tszyu LIVE from Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Townsville

Wednesday 26 August

LIVE from 7.00pm AEST on Foxtel’s Main Event and Kayo

It’s one of the biggest fights in Australian boxing history, a NSW v QLD state of origin battle, when Australian sporting legend Jeff Horn faces the next big thing in world boxing Tim Tszyu in an all-Aussie super fight for the ages.

Sports fans will have better access to all of the action than ever before, with Main Event announcing today the fight can now be ordered and streamed on Kayo, in addition to Foxtel subscribers on Foxtel’s MAIN EVENT Channel.

To order the fight visit www.mainevent.com.au

Kayo Sports Executive Director, Ant Hearne said: “We’re pumped to be able to bring this hugely anticipated fight, between two of Australia’s favourite sports stars, to fans to stream across the country. More Aussies, particularly those in Victoria who are in lockdown and can’t get to a venue to watch, can now access the fight through Kayo, which takes only a few minutes to sign up to.”

In what is set to be the Australian showdown of the year, Horn and Tszyu will finally get in the ring to face off against each other on Wednesday, August 26 at Country Bank Stadium in Townsville.

Both fighters are coming off wins in December, with Horn defeating Zerafa with a thrilling re-match and ninth round knockout, and Tszyu defeating Brubaker early in the fourth round resulting in Tszyu having a now undefeated record of 15-0.

Jeff Horn said: “I think Tim has definitely got the ability, whether he’s got it now or not is a question to be asked. And that’s the question I’m going to be asking on the night when we’re fighting. At a difficult time when many people are in lockdown and unable to leave home or travel to watch the fight ringside or with mates, with Kayo and Foxtel we are able to do this for the fans and bring the fight into people’s homes instead.”

Tim Tszyu said: “I’ve got a lot hanging on this and a lot to prove. Hopefully this fight brings something different than just skills and brings the beast out of me.

I’m looking forward to having a competitor such as Jeff Horn, with his style. I was at the Horn-Pacquiao fight and as soon as it finished, I looked at my manager to ‘make this happen’ – three years later, here we are.”

Main Event is owned by Foxtel and Optus, and is available on Foxtel and on Optus TV featuring Foxtel. Given that Optus owns 50% of the company I wonder why Optus hasn’t managed to get Main Event onto Fetch? Foxtel must exert control is my guess.

The Horn vs Tszyu fight being available on Kayo is interesting, and I wonder if more Main Event fights will appear on Kayo.

UFC fights are already available on Fetch of course under a separate agreement.
