has anyone else had anything in terms of TV DXing this season or is it shaping to be another dud season?

No, DXing in general in NSW has been pretty ordinary this summer.

Might have PRIME7 Mildura trying to come into Renmark this morning. Signal strength on 7 Adelaide was 3 which usually means a picture for that but not this time

The battle for frequency is on

Has anybody here been able to receive Melbourne Channels in the Latrobe Valley region?

Which part of the Latrobe Valley?

I’ve heard that on the east (high) side of Traralgon that it can be done.

I do know South of Yarragon and Trafalgar(North part of the Strezlecki’s) get the Melbourne Channels

Which is more trustworthy/reliable for tv coverage predictions? MySwitch or TXA Website?

most likely to get an accurate position better then TXA’s.

With the tropo season starting to wind down, it looks like it’ll be yet another poor season here in Renmark. Mildura TV stations were absent and the few occasions with Adelaide was just weak signals

A very slight blip was enough for an EPG to come up for the horse racing channel in Renmark

Hi @Joe1234. A good check from your location is to check if you can receive the ABC and SBS FM stations from Mt Dandenong using a standard radio.
93.1 - SBS FM
105.9 - ABC Classic FM
107.5 - Triple J

You probably won’t be able to receive any commercial or community FM stations as they have a directional null to the east. But the ABC and SBS FM stations from Mt Dandenong are omnidirectional I believe and get into the Latrobe Valley quite well.

If you can receive these FM stations in the Latrobe Valley/Gippsland then the chances are goood with a high-gain Band 3 antenna with a good mast of at least 3 metres you’ll be able to receive Mt Dandenong TV at that same location.

I recommend the Matchmaster 18 element antenna 03MM-DR3018 - Digital TV Antenna VHF (6-12) 18 Elements - Matchmaster Digital TV Antenna

The other option is a Hills DY14 or DY18. I previously used this one from Academy TV to bring in Mt Dandenong stations in Gippsland which is meant to be a clone of the Hills antenna: ATVD14 Alternative to Hills DY14 with support boom (Digital ONLY VHF)

Can receive 107.5 Triple J clearly… Can hear distorted Smooth Fm too.

I live in Northam WA and about to move house. My new place only has a UHF antenna pointed at Mawson which means back to rubbish SD for GWN7 and Nine. WIN is the best of the three.

I’m considering a Balun 16 Element so I can continue to receive Perth signals. We’re about 85km from the TX.

What is Perth reception like where you are now, and how does the location of your new house compare for Perth reception? eg. On Myswitch

Good luck, it’s great having both regional and metro versions of the 3 commercial networks. I would struggle to adapt to not having Sydney metro reception here near Newcastle if I ever had to move.

The Perth reception is good. The very occassional drop out, but i’d say perfect 90 percent of the time.

I prefer watching Perth because of HD on their networks and because Nine in regional WA has terrible picture quality, something hopefully that will be rectified once they switch over to WIN.

GWN7 is almost as bad, the local news pq is unwatchable and is easier to watch on their social media.

Our local TX only has regional networks despite being closer to Perth (96km) than Lancelin (127km) north which receives Perth via a translator.

What would my chances be with a 1 metre mast. I know I sound ridiculous but I don’t want a tower on my roof if I don’t need to
