Hi @picklewizard. Also look for North East Tasmania UHF (600kW from Mt Barrow near Launceston). I reckon you might have some luck from Mordialloc across Bass Strait.
Mustāve come in just strong enough to automatically change the EPG on my Sony TV, 7Food Network replaced with 7Mate HD Adelaide and a new edition Openshop
Hi, I live in Traralgon Victoria, I have to ask does anyone get Mount Dandenong Signals without those super tall antennas? Iām moving to the Eastern side of the town soon and as its more elevated iām looking to get 2 antennas in order to get Mt Tassie and Mt Dandenongā¦
Is this possible and if so which antenna installer is best for this?
Hi Joe, I think you might be pushing it too much as the Haunted Hills and all the hills over toward Gembrook(ie Mount Cannibal in North Tynong and Bunyip state Forrest) get in the way for Traralgon for Mount Dandenong. I know it is a struggle to get Mount Dandenong in Moe and Morwell and the area around there. I think super Tall Antenna are the way to go.
I know it struggle between Trafalgar and Moe at least. Northern Edge of the strzelecki ranges you might get it( ie Thorpdale and maybe Chruchill)
but no harm trying. Good Luck Happy to be proven wrong.
Hi oz,
Appreciate the reply. I hope thatās not the case as Iāve been to the new block in the rise estate and there appears to be a clear view towards Melbourne, it looks like there is a gap between the Great dividing range and the haunted hills, with the gembrook situation it probably would get in the way a little, the my switch website says itās a marginal area at the rise and a tall antenna with an amplifier might just cut it but as you say itās going to take a lot of luck trial and error to get it. Iām going to get in touch with some local antenna companies as to how high the antenna is and if it doesnāt appear to be too much of an eyesore I might just go for the tall antenna if itās going to boost chances. How high do you reckon would be high enough if the antenna is placed in the centre of the roof where it reaches highest? What got my hopes up is that I took a crest 40km antenna and took it up to the Hazelwood Road and got C31 clear as day in South Side of traralgon which is also elevated. So fingers crossed.
Hi Joe,
I know Traralgon well as my grandparents lived there and spent a lot of time there as a kid.
The eastern side of Traralgon is elevated and the chances of receiving reliable signal from Mt Dandenong is pretty good.
High and mighty doesnāt always guarantee great signal, the correct antenna and sweet spot play a big part in gaining adequate signal.
Your local antenna company may be able to come out and perform a site test and give you some great options however some probably no longer specialise is Melbourne reception as there has been a local transmitter since aggregation in the early 90s and a lot has changed since then.
Let us know how you go, Iād be interested to know which antenna they would choose for your location.
Reckon I mightāve had Western Victoria trying to come into Renmark this morning instead of Mildura. The signal bar on the TV was at 2 at one point which is usually a broken-up picture on Mildura but nothing came up
Your location is interesting - youāre already almost within range of two transmitters on VHF (Adelaide and Mildura) yet thereās a chance you might have received a third.
Did you hear anything on FM from that way? If the Western Victoria ABC FM stations were in youāre probably right, it was interfering with your other semi-local signal
There was a Mount Gambier radio station on 102.5 (Triple J) that was coming in strong
Hi Andy,
Appreciate the reply. Been in touch with local antenna companies and they seem fairly optimistic.
Iām also considering supplying my own equipment so does anyone know if the bunnings antsig fringe metro antenna with a 1m pole will work at Traralgon East. Thanks.
I would say to go with a Matchmaster or Hills antenna for quality and reliability.
But if looking for something cheaper, try Jaycarās range of antennas. Iāve got one (the 63 Element one) and they work pretty well and are of a good quality.
Thanks for your advice.
Iāll look into those brands.
Iāve purchased equipment from Jaycar myself in the past and never had any issues from them.
With the ducting about, I tried a bit of TV DXing.
UHF 29 (presumed WIN Bega) - 1 bar strength, 0 quality
UHF 49, 50 - presumed SBS and Nine Southern Hughlands - similar result as above.
It was something just to get a sniffā¦
Most likely Waikerie trying to come in last night in Renmark during the rain event. Even lost signal on VAST for a short time because of the dense cloud
Hi guys,
Not sure if this is the correct forum but does anyone know of a Set top box with either DAB+ or FM or even both functionality that can still be bought.
Thank you
It would be great if such a device existed, but Iāve never seen / heard of one.
I guess because people want audio only listening through HiFi equipment, but not through a TV.
And the demand for an āall in oneā device isnāt there.
This following thread would be better for this query.
Yeah. Thing is im going to be bringing in Melbourne Tv in traralgon and want to get the FM too, which allegedly will come in too, but canāt be bothered to do an FM Splitter system.
Joined that forum too thanks.
