Yuck. And too soon (especially for KIIS1023) to be changing IMO.
Sounds very Triple M-ish with “Greatest Hits” vs. “Greatest Variety”.
“Greatest” is not the best word.
“Adelaide’s/Brisbane’s Bestest Variety”?
“Adelaide’s/Brisbane’s Goodest Variety”…?
Or just, “…..’s Best Variety”.
I wonder if the “M” word has been banned from ARN?
How about, “…..’s Best Mix”?

They should go back to the old 2019-era positioner that then-97.3FM had of Brisbane’s/Adelaide’s Widest Variety from the 80s to now

That was Mix 102.3’s slogan right up until the change over to KIIS 1023 in January, I guess they are trying to not use slogans they used during the Mix era I guess.

Such a shame. The names Mix and Hit are actually rather clever for a station. It clearly identifies the music format. I suppose so too does smooth and GOLD.
KIIS means nothing.

Agree, it’s a bit of a naff American brand to me. And I dislike that spelling.

I never liked it. Kyle was trying to be cool by imitating something very American when he made them use it. 
Can see no reason to continue it and they would be wise to disassociate themselves from the Kyle era.

I recall part of the reason was so that Kyle could quash the rumours that him and Jackie were going to MIX.

I’m surprised there’s no clause in Kyle’s previous contract with ARN that if he leaves, so too would the KIIS branding.
Now is the time to blow up 106.5 and start again.

ARN already have POWER FM branding for regional stations, would be a decent network name for variety/hit music stations. Power 106.5 etc.

You are absolutely correct.
Jackie really has no case. She came to them and said she couldn’t work with Kyle anymore. That voids her contract. She was working on the Kyle and Jackie O Show. If she didn’t want to work with him anymore then there’s no more Kyle and Jackie O show.
It wasn’t unfair dismissal. She chose to break the contract.

Kyle wanted it to be called that after an LA radio station with that callsign. He probably thought it would endear him the the management of the real KIIS in LA and he’d become a big star in the US. Delulu.
KIIS are the actual call letters of that station, not KISS, hence the spelling over here.

Yes the origin of the misspelling was because the original AM station’s frequency was 1150 and the “115” referenced that. It also used to ID on air as “K-double I-S”.
Most of the other stations that form the FM network in the US are now spelt properly over there as KISS, apart from the original LA station.
It was just such a weird branding from the start, and now needs to go.
