To defend him for a second, you kind of have to do that with the press releases following surveys. It’s not like he was ever going to publicly shit on the program or content at the time - he’s got to talk it up, even if there’s not much to talk up.
However, while that interview was very interesting listening, it did reek of hindsight bias. There was a bit of washing his hands of some key decisions too.
I’m not convinced you do your reputation any favours by admitting to not talk to your key talent for several months after the show launched into Melbourne.
