They cant drop the 3pm show because it is national show.
I’m sure most of the content is recorded earlier in the day.
I don’t think radio cares about stuff like that anymore. I often hear weekday announcers VT-ing on the weekends.

Give the bloke a chance to actually succeed after being used as a pawn in Brisbane in a crystal clear attempt to get K&J networked there when the ratings would inevitably plummet to a 5 share. I feel really sorry for how Craig has been treated by ARN, you set this poor dude up for a huge gig after over a decade of not being on air, then cuck him into a 9-12pm slot..

Do Melbournians prefer up tempo, newer music, or 80s , 90s and now. That’s the big question.
What works in Brisbane and Adelaide might not necessarily work in Melbourne, as there are at least 2 80s, 90s and now formats in Priceline Radio and CW Remix as well as 5 easy listening formats in Smooth, Smooth Relax, 3MP, Heart and Light Mix.
I don’t think the Adelaide/Brisbane playlist is quite as different as you think (ie. There isn’t much 80s and there’s still a heavy focus on new music). It’s still very much Hot AC, not AC. What it does offer though is a slightly differentiated format than a carbon copy of Nova and Hit.
This is a chance for ARN to reset KIIS to a Hot AC network and not a wannabe CHR clone.
For what it’s worth I don’t even think they’ve got the Adelaide/Brisbane music right either. If I was them I would copy the MY FM (Los Angeles) playlist in Sydney and Melbourne. Soften the Brisbane/Adelaide one even further during the day and in local shifts and have a single (MY FM) log ar night.
To me the MY FM playlist is what Hot AC stations should be playing
