KIIS Network

For the first time since before the Melbourne launch…. Kyle and Jackie O went overtime today…. not finishing 10am on point.

But only for 5 mins then one commercial then straight to Gordie.

What happened in Brisbane?

Melbourne has made their mind up. If this has already been posted before, my apologies. If not, this is per the latest Melbourne radio survey released this morning. Might be time to kill off the “extreme” radio show in Melbourne? Or maybe ARN just doesn’t care about KIIS 101.1 anymore?

Who would they replace them with that would be able to turn things around though? I think that too much damage has been done at this point.

We have an entire topic where this is being discussed.

OK then, thanks for that. Will discontinue discussing it in this thread.

Have to agree with this…

. They have made every mistake a new show could make, and then some, over the last few months.”

They need to pull them.

Own up - say ‘Melbourne, we got it wrong’ and put a local show in market from next Monday (music/speed breaks). Introduce a new local breakfast from January 2025. Sometimes a mea culpa goes a long way.

No idea how to figure out Kyle and Jackie O’s contract through

But a question would be who can they actually get to replace them that could make a difference? I presume the budget won’t allow for any big local names, and I doubt Kyle and/or Jackie O would be willing to give up on their $200 million salary.

Structurally, ARN can’t even entertain this as a possibility in the short term, the whole org from content ops (completely stripped out of Melbourne) through to sales is geared toward KJ working. Bed made, time to sleep.

I do hope this means putting on the brakes in Brisbane with regards to the K&J rollout.

It might not be their choice. The contract doesn’t come into effect till next year I believe, and there could be some get out clauses based on performance or other things.

Hitting the headlines.

Apparently the Kyle & Jackie O content has been sanitised somewhat!

“The show was overly-sexualised,” says Campbell. “Kyle’s realised that, and we’ve made the change there, which is a positive. The graphic sexual content’s gone. But it will take time for the audience to pick up on that perceptually and change.”

Campbell says whilst these changes were made four or five weeks ago, the Melbourne media hasn’t really picked up on it.

That’s simply not true.

DC is a pure BS artist at this point.

It is clear as day that K&J’s Sydney success was also due to their competition (or lack of). It is not just put down to the product of the show.

This has been shown in Melbourne - where you cannot simply “copy & paste” the same success.

The same way H&A were No.1 on The Fox, but down in the ratings at 2DayFM years back.

Kyle this morning: “We’re on holidays on Monday. Regardless of whatever state you’re in. That’s on you”.

He’s clearly given up on Melbourne.
