KIIS Network

The frequency is outside the KIIS logo now?

Blast from the past there. Byron is great.

That version of the logo has always existed. It’s just an alternate version.

I wonder why they don’t bring Lauren in and throw something together with Byron, and even Ryan Jon for the next month. Anything would be better than having a month of ‘best of’ shows that’s only been on for six months

ARN Melbourne don’t seem to like replacing key talent. The same happens on Gold when Christian is sick - Jack gets the day off and one of the daytime presenters hosts a best of show.

For Gold, maybe they don’t think Jack and Patsy are strong enough on their own. But for KIIS, Ryan and Lauren would work really well (and has done in the past).

ARN are still on the cheap. That’s why. No investment in talent, no depths in the ranks.

Perhaps that might change, now they have a pool of regional talent to call on…

Still no sign of any breakfast show on Mix102.3.

Very strange.

Nor anything else about the new KIIS97.3 aside from the initial story. Very odd.

It came across that they would slowly start using more of the KIIS brand but I would’ve thought they would launch the new show with the new logo and name.

Agree. It’s odd how they’re promoting the new KIIS97.3 brekkie show with the current 97.3FM logo and not the KIIS one. Maybe they feel Kip + KIIS = Overload?

It’s strange they are going down this line. SAFM rebranded back to SAFM cause wanted local identity back, mix has a great brand here in SA and now doing what SAFM did to themselves.

Well the pop corn is ready to see how this plays out.

Is the logo for The Night Show on KIIS the same as what was used previously for The Night Show with Andy Grace on WSFM/Gold104.3?

Agree. Similarly 97.3 in Brisbane. People might not see “97.3” as a brand of any importance, but time will tell. They’re probably the same Sydney folk who also didn’t think FM104 or B105 were worthwhile brands either. My guess is people in Brisbane and Adelaide will take a dim view of “KIIS” and see it for what it is. I’m sure that’s why they’re re-branding 97.3 by “stealth” rather than a big bang - if they went with a big bang reveal of KIIS most people would think it was pretty dumb.

agree. I did a marketing minor in uni so i have some knowledge but i don’t understand this move. the 97.3 brand is not a toxic brand (if anything KIIS is worse thanks to the various K&JO “stunts”)

as i said about the rebranding of B105 - this smacks of rebrand by commitee

The thing with the current unimaginative name is that it’s easy tack the network brand onto the front with little fuss. It’s not so much a name change as a name addition. It means that the locals who refer to it was 97.3 will still be correct.
Same as when 92.9 Perth became hit 92.9.

Keeping the same local also helps, even if the colours change a bit.

Not as harsh as say SAFM becoming hit107 and completely losing its identity.

Had a flick around at night last night between KIIS, Fox and Nova - so interesting that we have 3 night shows competing, that market feels alive again. Abbey Chatfield’s show will not rate - its too insular and not at all welcoming to new listeners. Major talk over and way to much talk, no music passion at all. Smallzy feels the same same with stuff he’s been doing for eons not to mention the nova playlist feels… not right, he is great on air however. The night show with Mitch Churi on KIIS is a nice middle ground of fresh talent and what people want to hear in the night timeslot, had good interviews and live contest which had me listening for more. The real battle will be between Mitch and Smallzy this year i think… I love that 7-10 has more attention from the networks in 2022
