KIIS Network

With Soda out of Mix and potentially Ali Clarke joining the team, as well as their ratings slowly falling in recent times I wouldn’t put it past then considering invoking the relaunch button.

The old “copy and paste the media release” and miss a key bit of the story…

With 97.3 and Mix Adelaide rebranding, I wish they’d rebrand 96fm to Gold network. It makes no sense as part of Kiis.

Kip did a Marty, used the excuse wanting to have a break away from radio, we’ll he did for his 6 months non compete clause to turn up at an opposition radio station. Did the Nova playlist shit him so much to leave??

If 97.3 is going to become KIIS I find that a weird decision, 4KQ is top rating, and they are going to loose their Pure Gold station due to the force sale caused by the Grant merge.

I would have thought that it would have made more sense for 97.3 to become Gold 97.3. and join the Pure Gold Network. My bet is they will continue to use the 97.3 older log, and it will be just a name change only. A bit like like 94.5 and 2day fm skewing way older for the Hit network.
However if they take the KIIS Hot AC / CHR log there will be three fm stations targeting the same market in Brisbane.

Makes me think there’s all kinds of things happening in the background that we don’t know about. I’m very keen to hear how everything at ARN is going to fall (re: potential rebrands for 97.3 and Mix 102.3, new brekky teams, changes to The Edge, Grant stations, etc). 96fm certainly seems like the odd one out. I doubt they would rebrand the station to KIIS, and it definitely seems more suited to the Pure Gold network. So what happens? Do they just have no KIIS station in Perth? Is there more happening with Grant/Capital (6IX) and the FM conversion than we know about (could it become KIIS Perth), etc?

I agree!

If anyone from ARN is reading this, can you please tell us all of your plans. We promise to keep it confidential. We are very eager, kind, but a little impatient. So it does make sense to tell us first.

Thank you and kind regards

:joy:

More movements on Jase & Lauren:

  • Luke James has joined the show as Executive Producer and has replaced Caitlin McArthur who has moved to Gold 104.3 and The Christian O’Connell Show. James has previously been a producer at Sky News, Nova 96.9 (Fitzy & Wippa), SCA and KIIS 106.5 (Kyle and Jackie O) where he was known as Manchild.
  • Mikayla White has joined the show as a Senior Producer and has replaced Jane Mackinlay. White has previously been a producer at SCA working on Triple M’s Danny Lakey Show and Mick Molloy.

The team commenced a daily podcast today and will return next month.

It’s terribly inconvenient of them not to advise us of all of their plans.

I do feel the current 96fm is temporary. Their new logo which combines the kiis and original 96 logo isn’t on the building at Hay St, Perth. Still the 96fm kiis logo.

Jase & Lauren is back doing ‘daily wraps’ which is just a podcast they usually record after the show, but the actual show is not back. I don’t get why if they can pull together a decent podcast they can’t record the show from home.

Why do they need the national guys on the small stations. It will be fine if they change the name to KIIS or MIX

KJ HOP was 6-7pm nationally (except in Melbs where it went til 8pm because they didn’t want to air two hours of Jase and Lauren).

KJ HOP will remain at 6–7pm nationally.

Seven News report this afternoon regarding Kip Wightman joining the breakfast team also saw 97.3 referred to as KIIS 97.3 FM

I think Luke has replaced Caitlin. His linked in says he’s an Executive Producer at Kiis. I’ve listened to a few minutes of the Daily Wrap podcast and Mikayla introduces herself as Senior Producer, which means she most likely replaced Jane

There’s a guarantee “Gold 97.3” would rate as well as 4KQ.

But regardless, the reality is that 4KQ doesn’t deliver revenue in line with the ratings.
97.3 makes far more than 4KQ and as speculated on here, and confirmed by Ciara’s Davis last week, River 94.9 and Hot 91 do too.
While the sale/demise of 4KQ may create a ratings gap, it’s going to leave very little revenue gap.

Any change of 97.3 away from the KIIS network would only reduce its revenue. It’s already rating very well, and being part of the KIIS network lets it piggyback off the success of KIIS 1065 (another station delivering far more revenue and profit than its similarly rating stablemate in WSFM).

Same deal with 96FM, despite the older playlist, the lips logo and slight focus on a younger audience is worth a lot of money.

Probably due to the show being overproduced where every second is planned out. Zero to minimal planning of an hour talking shit, and somehow it sounds better than the actual show

Thanks @Brownshoes, I’ve now updated.

It’s possible that the entire KIIS network will receive a brand/logo refresh. It’s very unusual for a logo to last for as long as it has (8 years this year) without some sort of update. They could launch new logos for all of the Grant stations, as well as the KIIS stations and take the opportunity to rebrand 97.3 and Mix 102.3 altogether. I mean, why would they change the station names in Brisbane and Adelaide and leave them with essentially the same logos? It would be a wasted opportunity to give the whole network a freshen up.
