So I saw this last night on their websites, but at least on 97.3FM the website isn’t matching what’s put to air. I woke up at 8am this morning and we had Daniel Thomas on air and then Ad Free 50s start at 9am like usual. Daniel Thomas is who normally fills in on breakfast when Robin, Terry and Bob (well just Robin and Terry now) go on break.

Just a heard a promo on 97.3 of Mitch Churi, saying to ‘join him from 7am tomorrow on 97.3’ for all that is is trending on TikTok. Perhaps they are incorporating portions of the show with local hosts? Or maybe it’s just starting tomorrow instead of last week in Brisbane?

Interesting. We shall see tomorrow. Curious why there was a week’s gap if that is indeed the case.

So listening the last couple of days it sounds like a national Summer Breakfast sponsorship from TikTok which also happened to include Mitch doing a ‘what’s trending on TikTok’ news segment. Don’t know why they couldn’t have gotten their local announcers to voice these? Maybe they thought the announcers on 97.3 and Mix were too old for TikTok?

So I ended up waking up at 7am instead of 8am today and so I was able to listen to what that ad was referring to and glen2006 was right. At about 7:15am there was 90 second or so highlights reel of what’s trending on TikTok or something with Mitch and that was it. The rest of it is just the usual with Daniel Thomas (who actually specifically called out being Live & Local in one of his back announcements the other day) mostly playing music and checking in with Santa’s Ho Ho Hotline towards the end of his shift.

Interesting that all trace of Erin and Soda seems to have been removed from the Mix 1023 website. All the other ARN websites seem to have their breakfast talent every where, even this time of year.
