I remember hearing him on the radio in Townsville in the mid to late 70s(4AY , now Hit 103.1)long time ago

Further to this, the Telum Media guide also has these Summer programming changes listed for the KIIS Network.

  • Summer Breakfast with Mitch Churi 6am to 9.30am across the KIIS Network (both Sydney and Melbourne) from December 6th until January 14th.

  • 3PM Pick Up continues until 24th December and then will take a short break.

  • The Best of Will & Woody 4pm to 6pm from December 6th until January 14th.

  • On 97.3 FM, Dan Thomas, Shad Wicka and Jess Miller will share hosting duties across Breakfast and Drive over the Summer period.

Do we know if this is going right through summer until the local shows return?

If so that’s pretty good. Nova give up on summer breakfast after 2 weeks on air and Hit, who knows with them.

Yes, Summer Breakfast with Mitch Churi is on until January 14 which is the Friday before the local shows return for 2022.

So I saw this last night on their websites, but at least on 97.3FM the website isn’t matching what’s put to air. I woke up at 8am this morning and we had Daniel Thomas on air and then Ad Free 50s start at 9am like usual. Daniel Thomas is who normally fills in on breakfast when Robin, Terry and Bob (well just Robin and Terry now) go on break.

So not sure what’s going on here, maybe the website team went a little too broad with the updates?

I’m not sure if this is exactly what you’re talking about but I noticed this week for the KIIS 1065 & 101.1 websites that it was still showing that Kyle & Jackie O / Jase & Lauren were live on air even though it’s currently Summer Breakfast with Mitch Churi.

Same with WSFM.

It seems like ARN haven’t updated the website on air automatic banners for the summer.

I actually thought Summer Breakfast was only going across Sydney and Melbourne.

I wonder if they’re sharing the same music logs? And could this mean a more KIISify approach to Brisbane & Adelaide in 2022?

They’re taking different logs in Brisbane and Adelaide, local announcers too. Looks like they’re just calling it Summer Breakfast for uniformity across the four markets. Maybe because it’s all sponsored by TikTok?

Yep. The website people have gotten it wrong when they copy/pasted the following paragraph onto the 97.3 FM page.

“All thanks to TikTok, 97.3FM presents the perfect Summer show! With the best prizes, biggest hits and Mitch Churi filling us in each morning on everything that’s hot on TikTok!”

I’ll have to listen more carefully tomorrow, but not sure I heard any references to TikTok on air either in Brisbane. It really just sounds like what they normally do each Christmas at 97.3 FM - which is fine with me.
