Kayo Sports

I don’t know how accurate the AFL side of that image is - the Swans haven’t offered a Kayo-capable subscription this year

$40 a month is a lot for people like me who are only watching one match a week (the one your team plays).

How are they allowed to increase the prices when they are in the middle of selling the product?

Don’t believe there are any explicit rules around the increasing of prices for a service amid a possible sale of said company, as long as everything is above board with notifying subscribers of the increase etc.

Probably more a moral one, are prices likely to increase again when DAZN take over? Will the quality of the product stay the same? Will people be paying more for less sports if they chose not to renew deals.

Looks like those Tas postcodes are King and Flinders Island and Cape Barren Island but I’m surprised they’re just cancelling the subscriptions with no opportunity. Can’t they just say that services might be impacted in those locations and therefore offer refunds if it is terrible for people?

What about those with Starlink, I have that and so I don’t use the NBN but I can’t see why my service in Devonport would be any better or worse than in Currie on King Island with that.

I don’t think they ever have.

Allegedly its because Seven is a partner

Bingo bango winner winner chicken dinner.

Shame, because I don’t want to do what all the bogan NRL punters out here do and get Giants memberships just for the Kayo. I point blank refuse to give them money outside of admission to one game per year. I’m a petty petty man.

It looks like they’ve closed that loophole for cheap Kayo this year with many clubs offering digital membership for the same price

Collingwood offering Kayo Basic on their ‘Digital Insider’ membership, but it’s $350 upfront. Not enough of a saving to offset losing 4K imho

Edit - Basic is going to be renamed to Premium (had it mixed up with Kayo One/Standard). Maybe it’s still worth it… $350 up front is a bit of a pisstake though

Not sure how many clubs did this but the Giants offered a discount for 2024 digital members who renewed their membership.

I haven’t received anything as of yet. Hopefully it comes before the community games.

Yeah it’s pretty unfair. Looks like Starlink is available to most if not all of these areas and from what I read, streaming 4k shouldn’t be an issue.

Surely anyone on a satellite internet service should know they may get issues using a streaming service. Makes no sense they come out and just arbitrarily cut off remote areas from using these services, and still really not sure how they can enforce it in reality other than by GPS location but not every device will have this even available :man_shrugging:

Before seeing the map I was googling the NSW postcodes - the last one is Lord Howe Island

I’ve said it before…I’d be seeking leagal advice.

Probably cheaper to try a VPN first if you were actually affected :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep. Just signup at a relos place outside the area and VPN through that, if Kayo doesnt block them first.

It’s legal for a product not to be available in specific locations, not to mention an alternate has been offered to those impacted by the change.

From my experience, it would be pretty awful for live events.

Maybe so, but it doesn’t feel right. I’d be still be looking at whatever legal options oit there.

And how would that work? They’ll give people a Foxtel box and only give them access to the sports channels for $40/month? Doubt that.
