I wonder if a refreshed look is also on the cards - the current ‘set’/graphics are 9 years old now.
I’d be surprised if they didn’t revamp, especially with BBC News also set to move to a new studio and get a new look (and they’ve basically had the current look 14 years with some tweaks) around the same time.
This is a risky move so we’ll see if it pays off - wouldn’t be surprised at all if it barely lasts a year. For me I think putting The Chase from 6.30-7.30pm and moving the ITV News to 5.30pm would be a safer bet, but means ITV would need to commit to keeping News at Ten at 10pm daily to fulfil their primetime news requirements of a half hour bulletin between 6pm and 10.30pm.
This is ITVs second attempt at a news channel yes?
A news streaming service? This is exactly what I was suggesting one of our networks do instead of launching a linear news channel. Guess for a major station like ITV to be launching it then there must be some interest in news streaming.
Can’t believe you still don’t understand that whole conversation we all had a week ago. Incredible.
I guess ITV don’t know what they’re doing then?
No they very much know what they’re doing because it’s FREE!
Righto. I’m assuming the FREE in capitals is meant to reference something? I don’t recall ever saying a news streamer shouldn’t be free? I don’t think we even discussed pricing etc so I guess I’m still dumb as I don’t get what you are saying.
I’m really not going down this road again as it was clearly spelled out to you by myself and a number of members on this forum. If you don’t understand, then please go back and read the comments from last week.
You started this conversation today, why don’t you tell us what you think David isn’t getting?
It’s not going to be a rolling news channel. From the sounds of it it will just be a carousel of reports, documentaries and the bulletins they already do, plus possibly the capacity to do breaking news if need be. Probably won’t be that resource intensive.
Why are you being so difficult?
I obviously have absolutely no idea what you are talking about so can’t you just tell me and we can move on?
Discussing something else other than the royal news, does any one of our UK members know what the current lineup for GMB is at the moment?
I know Susanna Reid is still there but it seems every time I see clips of the show it’s always someone that I don’t know. Are Ben Shepherd and Kate Garraway still part of the show?
They stupidly still haven’t replaced Piers 18 months on. Richard Madely and Adil Ray are the main guest hosts and seem to do a few weeks on, a few weeks off, with (Judge) Rob Rinder and Martin Lewis regularly doing a week here and there too.
Ben still does Thursday and Friday (and has co-hosted with Susanna since last Friday), and Kate hosts on Friday and regularly deputises on other days too.
Don’t forget about Ed Balls.
ITN’s iconic linking letters are no more!
a VERY quick and casual sign off from the presenter on ITV News Central!
Reminds me of the Win News Paul Taylor sign off which was similar.
