Unfortunately, Franceinfo’s elegant, innovative look hasn’t translated into ratings. It remains the least watched, by a substantial margin, of France’s four national news channels.

That’s not surprising.
I never really expect elegant looks style or graphics to translate to ratings. France info is the government run news channel and from what I understand France’s most watched stations are all commercial Not government run (like OZ)
And when I’ve been in Paris - my limited knowledge of French culture and news/politics - I can see them favoring a more hard hitting bashful approach to news rather than elegant stylistic.
But considering ABC News is not commercial or bombastic, They could do well to emulate the more informal light free flowing style of France info - it’s so dry and buttoned up as it is.
Two TVA affiliates do have relays in NB, though…CHAU Carleton has several relays in the North Shore/Acadian Peninsula region, and sister station CIMT Riviere-du-Loup has a relay in Edmundston in the north-west (and is cablecast in much of the province).
Here’s the 2016 launch of Franceinfo as seen on France 2 and France 3:
A newly uploaded, hour-long clip of WSVN in Miami from 1986 featuring Australian-born anchor Peter Ford:
Just in time for our conversation about French TV news, here comes a compilation of current news opens from France:
The open to CHEK News in Victoria, BC. CHEK-TV is an independent TV station serving Greater Victoria, Vancouver Island, and Metro Vancouver in the Canadian province of British Columbia; it competes in the Vancouver-Victoria market (the 2nd largest English TV market in Canada) against network stations from Vancouver, and 1 other TV station in Victoria. CHEK is also the only employee-owned broadcast TV station in Canada.
Love that theme music and opening graphics.
BFM’s local news channels aren’t included in that compilation above, so here’s a recent clip of BFM Paris:
Interesting that BFM now has 3 24 hour local news channels in France (Paris, Lyon & Lille) and yet there are none in the UK.
Lille has 1.2 million people - London has 12 million, you would think there is a market for. 24 hour local news channel in London

And the one based in Lille comes in two different versions – one for the city itself and one for the Opal Coast (Côte d’Opale).
The news on Austria’s ORF will get a refresh on Sunday. Here’s a clip showing the current look, followed by a report previewing the refresh at the 1:07 mark:
EDIT: Here is the refreshed 7:30pm news. A report at the 1:15 mark shows the updated look of ORF’s regional news:
In Canada, a general election in the province of British Columbia is wrapping up this evening. Global BC & Okanagan, CTV Vancouver & Vancouver Island, CBC British Columbia, Radio-Canada, and CHEK-TV Victoria are all doing rolling coverage this evening. CBC, CTV, and Global starting an hour before polls close at 7 PM, with CHEK starting their coverage at 8 PM.
The graphics for CBC, CTV, and Global are the same as the ones used during the New Brunswick election night.
Global BC coverage (simulcast on Global Okanagan, BC1, and Corus news-talk station 980 CKNW Vancouver)
CBC British Columbia coverage (simulcast on CBC News Network nationally, and on CBC Radio One across BC)
CTV Vancouver coverage (simucast on CTV News Channel nationally, and notably not on CTV Vancouver Island, CFTK-TV Terrace or CJDC-TV Dawson Creek)
The NDP managed to push the BC Liberals out of several key ridings, earning a fresh mandate from voters to steer the province's ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
CHEK-TV coverage (the only results show originating from Victoria, the provincial capital)
Radio-Canada coverage (simulcast on RDI nationally)

Other stations of note:
The Pattison-owned Citytv stations in Prince George (CKPG-TV) and Kamloops (CFJC-TV) are not doing rolling coverage according to online schedules, but will have late night newscasts focusing on the election after primetime.
According to online schedules, the CTV2 stations in the province (CIVI Victoria, CFTK Terrace, and CJDC Dawson Creek) are NOT simulcasting CTV Vancouver’s coverage. They are airing regular programming. CIVI Victoria’s schedule also shows a special late night newscast at 11 PM (CIVI usually does not broadcast a weekend 11 PM newscast)
Also, CTV Vancouver was the first to declare both an NDP win, and an NDP majority government thanks to the help of the CTV Decision Desk out of Toronto.
Declared NDP Win
CTV - 8:45 PM
CBC - 8:56 PM
CHEK - 8:58 PM
Global - 9:01 PM
Declared NDP Majority Gov’t
CTV - 9:07 PM
CBC - 9:11 PM
CHEK - 9:12 PM
Global - 9:28 PM
Another election night in Canada, this time in the province of Saskatchewan. All 3 major networks (CBC, CTV, Global) are presenting election results coverage this evening. Citytv Saskatchewan does not have a news operation, so they will just be showing regular programming.
Saskatchewan Votes from CBC Saskatchewan (simulcast on CBC News Network nationally and on CBC Radio One across Saskatchewan)
Decision Saskatchewan from Global Regina & Global Saskatoon
Election 2020 from CTV Regina and CTV Saskatoon (simulcast on CTV News Channel nationally)
There are currently no events scheduled on the LIVE1 digital channel. Check back soon to watch live events from across Canada and the world!
From Germany, a preview of Welt-TV’s brand-new production facility (the news channel was formerly known as N24):
Looks like Shepard has a new face too.
I really dislike that V/O intro. Waaaaaay to over the top.
