I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

They labelled Dave Hughes king of comedy. I think it’s very loose.

Well the “celebrity” description when it’s used to describe tik tokkers, online influencers and former MAFS contestants is actually a lot worse.

True.

I just don’t think it’s a very good cast this year. And the ratings are definitely taking a hit due to this. It’s dropped everyday this week and lost about 300,000 viewers since Sunday.

It’s not good.

Premiere (and finale) eps always rate higher, plus at 5 nights a week the show has a slightly downward trajectory in ratings across the week - nothing new there.

Biggest season since 2022 and record audiences on 10 play reflecting the shift towards streaming + catch-up. 10 also says season to date this year is up 9% on the 2024 average.

I’m not as thrilled by this cast, and didn’t like that most I were interested in were revealed prior to the premiere, but I don’t think it’s quite accurate to say the series has taken a hit due to the cast.

It would be more accurate to say the series is up slightly this year, despite heavy competition from live sports.

Screen Legend Sigrid Thornton Joins I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Our celebs have made the jungle their happy home, they’ve tackled trials, faced their fears, they’ve even overcome listening to each other snoring at night. And now, our little jungle family is about to get even bigger with the addition of screen legend Sigrid Thornton!

From The Man From Snowy River to SeaChange to Prisoner, Wentworth, and Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door, Sigrid has been an icon of stage, film, and TV for decades. The multi award-winning actor also received an AO in 2019 for her contribution to the performing arts.

But now Sigrid faces one of her toughest roles yet: campmate!

Sigrid Thornton said: “Going into the jungle is way out of my comfort zone. I accepted this challenge instinctively and chose not to over analyse that instinct. While I can seem intense, deep down I’m really a bit of a dag. I’m looking forward to having a meaningful shared experience with my campmates.”

How will she fare when faced with the gruelling trials, the lack of food, and the faces of our very excited celebrities who will be ready to welcome her with open arms… as long as she brings home some stars!

Don’t miss Sigrid’s grand entrance when I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight.

I don’t know why people ‘get their knickers in a knot’ over the casting of this show every year. I thought we’d all realise by now they’re not going to get International A-listers. To me and I know others have posted too, its all about cast interaction and IMO the first week has been great for this. As for false advertising this is a commercial tv station we’re taking about. Witness arguably Australia’s top rating show starting soon with a cast picked by ‘experts’. We all know that’s not true!

Does anyone feel like Matty J takes up like 80% of each episode? If he’s not in the Tok Tokki he’s interviewing everyone like their on his podcast.

First elimination of the season is next Sunday, February 2.

The announcement that Shayna had received an OAM was made by Nicky Buckley during dinner.

I am really enjoying the cast even though it is very low budget. I normally switch off by now and haven’t.

I don’t think anyone is expecting any international A Listers but they have definitely got some big names in the past. Shane Warne, Freddie Flintoff, Frankie Muniz. Normally there is at least 1 bigger name. This year obviously hasn’t got that but my the sounds of it they were supposed to have Mel B.

She’s too busy hunting bears

Wasn’t that filmed last year?

Yes it was and it’s been mentioned here before.

Irregardless two similar shows.

Aren’t the challenges voted on the night before? So how did Sigrid get chosen for the snake pit when she wasn’t even known to be there before that ep

What’s that got to do with anything?

Regardless, this is not a word.

She agreed to do I’m a Celebrity after she had done the other show. According to the producers, she dropped out of I’m a Celebrity quite late in the process.

I was thinking the same thing. Celebrities are usually immune on challenges on their first night. Also, us viewers couldn’t vote her in droves in the 30 minutes of air time she was on last night, could they?

I can’t remember where I heard it, but what I’ve heard is that when voting costs money, either directly or through your phone bill, then due to certain laws the producers are obligated to go through with the results of the vote or be put up with fraud charges or something.

With the free online voting, nothing is stopping them from just naming their own triallists or heck, even deciding who they want to eliminate depending on their Terms and Conditions.

I was thinking the same thing. 10 only confirmed Sigrid’s identity yesterday morning (she actually entered the camp on Thursday South African time) and it must have received so many public votes in less than 12 hours to be sent to the snake pit.

As quoted from their T & Cs:
Voting Results
20. The Promoter and the Voting Service Provider reserve the right to keep all voting results confidential.
21. At the close of each of the Voting Periods, all Votes will be totalled, and each celebrity will be ranked
in order of valid Votes received from highest to lowest.
22. For the “Trial Voting”, the relevant number (as determined by the Promoter) of celebrity or celebrities
with the highest number of Votes will be required to undertake the next Trial Challenge. In the event
of a tie, the Promoter may, in its discretion, refer back to the previous ‘Trial Voting’ Voting Period
results and combine those Votes for those tied celebrities with the Votes for the Trial Voting from the
current Voting Period. In that event, the celebrity or celebrities (as applicable) who have the highest
combined Trial Voting Votes from both Voting Periods will be chosen to undertake the Trial
Challenge. In the event a celebrity chooses not to participate in a Trial Challenge, they may not be
able to take part in the prize on offer for the Trial Challenge.
23. For the ‘‘Vote to Save – from bottom’’ Voting, the relevant number of celebrities (as determined by
the Promoter) with the lowest number of Votes will be included in the “Vote to Save – from
elimination” Voting Period as per Clause 24. The number of celebrities determined as the ‘bottom’
celebrities will vary for each of the ‘‘Vote to Save – from bottom’’ Voting Periods and will be promoted
during the broadcast. In the event of a tie, the Promoter may, in its discretion, refer back to the
previous ‘‘Vote to Save – from bottom’’ Voting Period and combine those results with the current
Voting Period results. In that event, the relevant number of celebrities (as applicable) who have the
lowest combined votes will be included in the next ‘‘Vote to Save – from elimination’’ Voting Period.
24. For the ‘‘Vote to Save – from elimination’’ Voting, the bottom celebrities from the ‘‘Vote to Save –
from bottom’’ Voting Period will be up for elimination, with their vote totals resetting to 0. The
relevant number of celebrity or celebrities (as determined by the Promoter) with the lowest number
of Votes in the “Vote to Save – from elimination” will be eliminated from the camp. In the event of a
tie, the Promoter may, in its discretion, refer back to the previous “Vote to Save – from bottom’’
Voting Period results and combine those votes results with the current Voting Period results. In that
event, the celebrity or celebrities (as applicable) who have the lowest combined votes will be
eliminated.
25. For the Vote to Win, the celebrity with the highest number of Votes will be crowned king/queen of
the jungle and their nominated charity will receive a donation. In the event of a tie, the Promoter will
declare this and announce both celebrities as Winners, and the charitable donation will be split
equally between the two Winners’ nominated charities.
26. In the event a celebrity is no longer able to participate in the Program for whatever reason or chooses
at any time to exit the jungle by declaring “I’m a celebrity get me out of here”, they will leave the
jungle and all voting for this celebrity will cease.
27. Promoter and Voting Service Provider accept no responsibility or liability for any costs incurred by
voters who cast Votes for a celebrity or celebrities who has/have left the jungle or who submit
incomplete or incomprehensible votes.

That should help
