Ready. Set. Go!
Finally, the summer sensation Iâm A CelebrityâŚGet Me Out Of Here! will be back early next year, ready to test and terrify a new bunch of celebrities.
Hosted again by comedy legend Julia Morris and her doctor-like sidekick Chris Brown, the new season will be the perfect alternative to cricket and tennis â assuming we see any cricket and tennis on our screens next year. If youâre wondering where Iâm A CelebrityâŚGet Me Out Of Here! 2021 will be filmed, well, stay tunedâŚ
The UK version is broadcast at 5am local time - surely the light canât be any worse early evening than it would be then.
Interesting in that piece above itâs still being pitched as an alternative to tennis and cricket, so staying in the January slot then. I thought they might move it back to February with no Survivor or other flagship reality show for the slot.
I never had an issue with the lighting on the UK version when I used to watch it. But by December isnât that a different time? I donât think its 5am in QLD when they are airing it due to the daylight savings changes in the UK.
10âs head of entertainment Stephen Tate told Mediaweek:
The fact that we wonât have a time difference that Africa gave us will mean the show will need to be prerecorded. We have some exciting and very funny creative solutions around that. ITV has come up with some brilliant ideas and I canât wait for the audience to see them.
I am actually disappointed that the next season will be pre-recorded. Why canât eliminations take place in primetime? During summer there is usually still bright light by the time the show begins at 7.30pm in Sydney and Melbourne.
I think it will have more to do with the trials rather than the eliminations.
Trials can be held during daytime, easy. But it could mean early morning deadlines to vote for which celebrities will take part in the trials.
Pre recorded 24 hrs before ? Or Pre recorded like Big Brother on Ch 7 weeks ago ?
And early morning trials to get it to air that night. It just wouldnât give them enough time to edit it for a 7:30 start. In South Africa they do the trials a few hours after the elimination.
This is actually a very clever idea.
It makes a lot of sense, and they could film a backup finale as well as a contingency plan.
Live shows in general seem like a bad idea in the current climate.
if its pre-recored how would we vote for tucker trials and elimations?
I donât think it will be completely pre-recorded. Theyâd have to start filming it by mid-November if thatâs the case to wrap it before Christmas. Unlikely.
More likely eliminations might not be live and we might see another aspect live like Tucker Trials.
Why would it be unlikely. They want to film early incase of a breakout so they will have 4 weeks of content for January.
Itâll probably be like what Big Brother did this year whereby the contestants take on those responsibilities
Itâs a completely different show if you remove the live viewer element. So if there is no voting are we turning the show into Survivor where they vote each other out? Tucker Trials are meant to be the viewers âpunishingâ the celebs as well. Isnât supporting a celeb about raising money for their charity as well? Plus half the fun is gone when the celebs leak in a pre-filmed version. I wouldnât be very interested if it is essentially a different show.
Surely the cast and crew can be prepped for 2 weeks quarantine right after Christmas if required for the show to film early Jan.
Itâs more if there is a breakout while filming⌠The show would have to go off air.
Similar to how the masked singer got delayed behind the scenes.
Iâve got a very bad feeling about this. Run it live and isolate the whole cast and crew for 3 weeks prior - 2 weeks of hotel production work, and 1 week of proper production and filming.
If itâs a truly isolated set thereâs no chance of an outbreak.
Tucker trials can be simplified to allow for post-production turnarounds. Viewers donât mind if the content of the campmates is from 48 hours agp rather than 24, but if it is shot months earlier it will definitely lose its sting.
