I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

Ask Rove. He apparently thinks so. :stuck_out_tongue:

Overall it’s a good cast and apart from Laurina they are all celebs (even if D class) in their own right.

I’m sick of reading on social media (and even some peoples comments on here) complaining about how few ā€œCelebritiesā€ there are on this cast. What do you expect? People who’s careers are flourishing are not going to do a show like this (yet still they got Havanah which is impressive) and you’ve got to be realistic about the type of people who would do a show like this. Yet just because you havn’t heard of someone doesn’t mean that they aren’t a well known name either. For example - to most people someone like Dean Geyer is scraping the bottom of the barrel of celebs… but look at what he’s done, he was on Australian Idol, he’s had a top 10 hit song, he was cast on Neighbours and Glee. That makes him a celebrity whether you know him from any of that or not. Although I do think Ten could have done a bit of a better job with the intro videos for the celebs to highlight them better.

Overall better than last years line-up and look forward to it. I hope we have a quirky characters like Maureen and Joel this year so time will tell.

Have you never seen an episode of Prisoner to know who Val Lehman is ?

I knew who everyone was except the ironwoman lady and Jo Beth - although I have heard of her if I walked past her would have no idea who she was. The other one I didn’t know was the NRL guy but thats because I have only recently become interested in NRL.

I am shocked that you have not heard of DJ Havana Brown. She is without a doubt the biggest current working celeb on that list, although I guess if you don’t listen to radio, dance/pop music or not into the club scene you might not know who she is. But she is doing gigs in clubs all over the world and has been the support act for heaps of huge artist tours in Australia, Europe and US including Britney Spears, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Rhianna and even Bruno Mars. Which is why I’m so surprised that she signed up for a show like this.

Yeah she is the one I said no way she would do it. Probably should have done the maths on the girl to boy ratio though.

I had heard her name. Wouldn’t recognise her if I walked past her on the street, nor name one of her songs. DJs are probably only celebrities for a certain demographic, or for additional things like acting or dating Taylor Swift.

My daughter is very disappointed that she hasn’t heard of the DJ or pop star before.

I was sad to see Paul Harrogan reduced to this. Does he still do NIB ads? I am curious why everyone seems so excited by Shane Warne?

Does she hit the clubs?

Ha ha well she wasn’t born when Anthony Callea was popular, so no, she doesn’t. But she does follow pop music.

Well her song We Run the Night was a Top 5 hit back in 2011. Also often on radio stations (I know she used to do Austereo) they will have afternoon mashups by her or their Saturday night shows often have her as a guest DJ. She is pretty much everywhere if you are into that stuff.

With music these days there’s so much happening in so many genres. It’s quite possible to be a ā€œcelebrityā€ in a certain type of music and for general public not to know you.

I’m sure your pop fan daughter has no idea who most of the artists in the Triple J Hot 100 were either. And the same with probably a lot of the performers on the albums chart since the people who buy them tend to be older.

I do agree, just answering people who seem incredulous that people don’t know Havana Brown.

Yes, she only knows the pop crossover acts from the Hottest 100 like Lorde, Macklemore, The Weeknd etc.

Funny I’ve heard of all those other names you mentioned. They are the real celebrities. :slightly_smiling:

I guess you still don’t really understand the show and some people never will. The title of the name is there to make fun of ā€˜celebrities’. To be honest the list of ā€˜celebrities’ is closer to that word than this years version of the UK version.

You really do seem to have pretty unrealistic expectations about the type of people who would be willing to do a show like this. Like turdall mentioned the point of the show is to pretty much pick and poke fun at D grade celebrities, yet still they have some decent names on there.

Depends what your definition of ā€œdecentā€ is. If you mean hasbeens and wannabes then yes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why does the repeat have the ā€œLIVEā€ bug on it? False advertising!

Those complaining about the calibre of celebrity just don’t get the concept of the show.
Of course A listers aren’t going to sign up.

Having said that, Havana is quite the get. She’s huge on the music scene. Never imagined she would sign on.

This show has become massive.

Over 1.3m on Men’s tennis final night…

Amazing.

Warnie tonight, should be epic (or so we’re lead to believe)…
